With growing speculation around Childers’ future, a fan recently asked the iconic crew chief what were his eventual plans. Much to the respite of everyone, Childers made sure that the rumors surrounding his retirement were quelled.
The fan asked Rodney Childers on Twitter, “@RodneyChilders4 Hey Rodney. Are you calling it quits after this season? I think you still have a lot left in the tank.”
Childers responded by mentioning, “Still going [strong] Looking fwd to it!”

Josh Berry has become the talk of the town after giving consistent performances during the first half of the season. HMS brought in the JR Motorsports Xfinity driver to replace Chase Elliott in the #9 car and then Alex Bowman in the #48 car. Now with Harvick’s retirement imminent, speculations have been pointing toward a partnership between Childers and Berry for the next season.
Several fans expressed their belief that SHR will rope in Berry to work with Childers from the next season, with a fan saying, “Josh Berry, come on dooown,” and another commenting, “I’m assuming Josh Berry will take over the 4 then.”
