Kyle Larson is undoubtedly a class apart from the rest of the field in many ways. He is the most naturally gifted racecar driver in NASCAR, one of the most successful ones in the modern era, and certainly, one who has his own style of racing.

But along with that, he also has his own way of paying a driver back for any harm done to him. Or, in other words, Larson knows how to take his revenge in his own way.

Consider what he did to “wrecking ball” Ross Chastain at Dover recently.

Kyle Larson’s comments after Dover hinted his frustration

The Trackhouse Racing driver became the main reason why Larson’s race at Dover was compromised after the #1 wrecked Brennan Poole, who slid up the racetrack and rammed into an incoming innocent Larson. But instead of wrecking Chastain to take his revenge, he did something way more subtle.

He got in his way when he was fighting with Martin Truex Jr to get the lead. And some may argue that Larson successfully stopped Chastain from winning the race.

When confronted about this after the race, he simply said, “I don’t know. You can take it for whatever you think it might be. Just a long frustrating day for me and another day where I get caught up in something that’s not my fault.”

This frustration he mentioned after Dover was possibly the reason, if spotter Brett Griffin is to be believed, why he did what he did to Chastain as he justified his actions.

In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Brett Griffin opened up on the “rough week” the Hendrick Motorsports driver had. “My man gets T-boned at Talladega where he is hosting a race, a high paying dirt race, his teammate flips and injures his vertebrae, and he is out for 3-4 weeks. He gets to Dover, and not of his making, he is running beside Brennan Poole and Poole gets wrecked, turns and slides up the racetrack and Larson creams him,” he described.

“So Larson’s probably very frustrated especially with how fast his cars have been. Because there’s no doubt who the best racecar driver at Dover was in that field yesterday in my mind, it’s Kyle Larson.”

“If Matt Kenseth was still there, if Tony Stewart was still there, or Jimmie Johnson, I don’t know where Larson would rank but they’re not there anymore,” the spotter claimed. He recalled a conversation he had years ago with a peer of his and said, “When some of these top guys go, how good is Kyle Larson gonna be at Dover?”

“It’s got to be one of the tracks where he circles. These guys will tell you, they go through the circle, they circle certain tracks and go, ‘I’m gonna be a bada** there, I’m gonna have a chance to win there, I’m gonna have a chance to dominate,'” he added.

Griffin concluded that any remarks Larson made were clearly out of “pure frustration” and “rightfully so.”

“He’s one of the best. Frustrated, he knew Ross scr*wed his day up and at the end of the day he did the same to Ross,” he reasoned.
