It is not surprising that some NASCAR Cup drivers decide to run part-time in the Xfinity or Truck divisions. After all, Kyle Busch and many others are doing it, though Busch is slowly easing off. Now, Ross Chastain has announced that he will compete in the Truck race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for Niece Motorsports.

According to reports, he will pilot the #41 truck for the weekend, along with his Trackhouse Racing duties. In other words, the Niece Motorsports team will field five trucks at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The other drivers are Dean Thompson, Carson Hocevar, Kris Wright, and Lawless Alan.

All four drivers are currently competing on a full-time basis. Additionally, Thompson and Alan are rookie drivers in their first full-time campaigns. Coming back to Chastain, Eat Florida Watermelon will act as his title sponsor for the Truck race. It is interesting to note that Cram Racing Enterprises fielded the #41 entry in the last few seasons. However, the outfit has not made an appearance this season.

Ross Chastain has some history with Niece Motorsports

In his Truck Series career, Chastain racked up three wins for the team. To make matters even sweeter, he finished as the runner-up during his full-time Truck Series campaign in 2019. Since then, he graduated to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2020 and later moved up to the Cup Series a year later. Despite that, the #1 driver has been making a few cameos for Niece Motorsports every season.

Now, it seems that the partnership will continue for another season, while he juggles Cup duties. This deal comes fresh after a career-best finish in the Cup arena. As it turned out, Chastain finished in an excellent second place this weekend at the Phoenix Raceway. Prior to this, he has recorded a third-place finish during the Las Vegas weekend.
