Ross Chastain is very close to being declared the most hated NASCAR driver at this moment. Look no further than the list of drivers he has made mad by sabotaging their races. With Kyle Larson and Brennan Poole in Dover being the most recent entries on the list, you’ll know why that is the case.

Or is he already there? Is Chastain already the most hated driver in the sport?

Because a considerable number of NASCAR fans think he is after he made contact with Brennan Poole at Dover which sent him into the wall, and as he bounced back, he collected an innocent Larson in the mess while Chastain escaped unharmed.

Kyle Larson reacts to Chastain indirectly sabotaging his race

In a post-race interview, Larson claimed what Chastain did can be taken for “whatever you think it might be.” But instead of calling the #1 driver out, Larson chose to focus on himself.

“Just a long frustrating day for me and another day where I get caught up in something that’s not my fault,” he said as per NASCAR.

On the other hand, Chastain admitted what happened was “completely my fault.”

“Totally my fault. Tomorrow, I’ll go out to Sonoma to the Skip Barber (Racing School) and when I get home from that, I’ll go find him and Rick and make some of that right,” he added.

Even though it’s become almost a commonplace thing now for Ross Chastain to sabotage races of his fellow drivers at random, he never did make the cut to being the most hated driver in NASCAR.

But after this Dover incident, many consider him to be a top contender for the title, something which is reflected pretty clearly in the reactions from Monday’s race.

A fan went into specifics and wrote, “Unbelievable. First cup start this year for Brennan Poole having a fantastic run and just gets run over by Ross Chastain. How long is Ross gonna be able to just wreck people, have zero respect for anyone else & claim he didn’t mean to do it ??”
