Wrecks, drama, cautions, overtimes, and a win for 23XI Racing were all that the Circuit of The Americas race was about. While Tyler Reddick was the hero of the race, Ross Chastain is slowly getting tagged as the villain. It had everything to do with the incident involving Daniel Suarez. Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch had his say on it recently after which the media left no stone unturned to instigate a war between him and Chastain.

Busch has more often than not had a straightforward approach with his words. It was the same when the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion spoke about the Suarez incident. However, the response hasn’t gone down well with Chastain.

It all started on Sunday in Austin when Chastain was found guilty of bumping multiple cars in the final laps of the COTA race. He bumped Alex Bowman, which in turn spun Daniel Suarez, and ruined the race for his Trackhouse Racing teammate. The incident left Suarez furious and his actions later on the pit road undoubtedly invited criticism.

However, things wouldn’t have gone so badly had Chastain not started the wrecking scenario. Kyle Busch, the runner-up of the race, gave a post-race interview on the pit lane. There, he said, “I got alongside [Tyler] Reddick there on that one restart into the esses and I could’ve forced the issue, pushed him off, or whatever, but we ran each other hard, we ran each other clean, and gave each other room. So I respect the kid.”

It was then that Chastain passed by and Busch pointed toward him and taunted “Somebody else [who] doesn’t know anything about clean over here,”

The matter only escalated when Rowdy spoke ahead of the Richmond race. Speaking on the incident, he said, “Again, you gotta be… Maybe I hit somebody with my front end when I got into the corner, but I think you can do a pretty good job of knowing where your stuff’s at.

“Maybe he [Chastain] needs glasses, I don’t know. I started wearing them this year, I see way better.”

Post that, the NASCAR media representative pushed Chatain to respond to Busch’s comments. To this, the 30-year-old responded that Busch should “mention that to me personally”.

It was a cold but stern warning by the former Spire Motorsports driver. Many felt Chastain wouldn’t have responded in a fashion had the media not instigated as it did.

The NASCAR media has time and again received criticism for different reasons from the fans. This time around, they are facing the heat for probably pushing too hard to get Chastain to give a strong rebuttal to Kyle Busch’s comments on the Daniel Suarez incident.

While fans enjoy the drama, they were highly critical of the NASCAR media representative who was behind the Busch–Chastain comments. They accused the concerned personality of “stirring the pot.”

One fan even detailed his opinion on the matter and said, “Yea pockrass stirring the pot,” while several others also tweeted in the same sentiment.
