Ross Chastain, the NASCAR driver known for his aggressive style on the track, recently faced a unique challenge. His boss at Trackhouse Racing, Justin Marks, decided to race against him for a rival team. Let us look into Chastain’s response of coping with rejection and navigating the rivalry, highlighting his offer to help Marks and his determination to beat him on the track.

Chastain’s situation has become complicated as his boss Marks has decided to once again make an appearance as a driver at the Xfinity Series race at Chicago Street Course. Kaulig Racing announced that Justin Marks would be driving the No.10 Chevrolet Camaro. Instead of leading his team as a boss on Sunday, Marks aligned himself with Kaulig Racing, a direct Cup competitor to Trackhouse. And this wasn’t a blow enough for Chastain, there was more!

In a press conference before the race, the #1 driver revealed that he had offered to help Marks as a spotter, but things didn’t go as planned.

Chastain shared that he has a positive relationship with Marks and had sought his advice on road courses in the past. He recognizes Marks’ racing background and road course expertise, but also acknowledges the challenge of adapting to him as a team owner. Despite things not going the way he wanted, Chastain maintains a respectful perspective and aims to beat Marks on the track.

“Yeah, I offered to spot for him. Politely no one really took me up on that. It was really cool that the first time he drove the track at the simulator at GM, I was able to be there with him with Kaulig. We both drove, and we got to compare to each other and compare our feedback of what we were feeling in the car as far as our driving styles,” said Ross Chastain.

In the same press conference, we hear him say, “He is a racer. That is the Justin Marks I know. Justin Marks, the team owner, I am still learning to adapt to in knowing him as that. I know him as the driver. He is a highly renowned road course racer and the guy that I went to for advice.”

“Never knowing that he was going to own a dang Cup team and I was going to drive for him, and we were going to win three races together.” Ross Chastain added.
