It hasn’t even been a month and NASCAR fans have already witnessed more than a few nerve-racking moments, interspersed with some unexpected, some happy outcomes. The race at Auto Club Speedway saw Kyle Busch get his much-awaited victory with Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, and Kevin Harvick making it to the top five. And the Trackhouse Racing drivers were a happy bunch despite losing out to Busch.

It was a good day in the field for Trackhouse Racing, with both its drivers making it to the top five. In a post-race interview with FOX Sports, both Suarez and Chastain expressed their pleasure with the car’s performance compared to last year.

Diving into the specifics of his car, Ross Chastain told the interviewer, “Our balance was building loose most of the day, so I thought we did everything right. We kept up with it. I would just feel pretty loose late in the runs. At times it was enough, and at times they got way better. I felt like we were the steady force, our Kubota Chevy was.

“So for everybody at WWEX Racing, AdventHealth, Jockey, and the Moose, to start off this year the way we have is a total 180 from last year when it was not like this.”

“So as much as it stings, as much as it does hurt, hats off the Chevrolet for top four there, and pumped to be in this position with Trackhouse and for our first crack at the big tracks here, it’s all we can ask for, and we will regroup and study and be back next week.”

In his post-race interview, Daniel Suarez said, “First of all, I want to say thank you to every single man and woman at Trackhouse for building these rocket ships because it’s a lot of fun to race with cars like this you know. Everyone in the #1 team, the #99 team, we have done a great job, the cars are fast again, and it’s a lot of fun.

“I just have to do a better job myself, I don’t feel like I did everything the way I should have today. I made a few mistakes. I wouldn’t say it was the best car, but it was a car capable of fighting for the win. And I just didn’t do my job exactly the way I should have but I will come back next week.”
