If there’s one thing that Kevin Harvick is popular for besides his exemplary racing skills, it’s his sense of humor. Numerous NASCAR personalities have been victims at least once to his merciless pranks, and they have had to grudgingly laugh at their own peril. His wife Delana, friend and associate Josh Jones, Tony Stewart, and other teammates have been the most frequent victims of his mischievous pranks.

People at Stewart-Haas Racing have extensively spoken about the pranks he pulls. Tony Stewart, a prankster of equal caliber, has been involved in multiple back-and-forths with Harvick over the years. Cup Series veteran Denny Hamlin is here to reveal all about it in a video made as a tribute to Harvick, who is set to retire at the end of this season.

For Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick are cut from the same cloth. Both have worked extensively with each other, first at Kevin Harvick Inc. in Xfinity Series and later at the SHR stable. Moreover, Hamlin and Stewart were teammates at the JGR camp for several years. It was during those years that Hamlin was at the receiving end of Stewart’s pranks.

I was teammates with Tony for many years and I mean he would do stuff when I was younger while at test that would just make my life miserable—spraying break clean in the bottom of my seat and essentially roasting my a** for hours you know,” said Hamlin. Playing pranks on the youngest is probably the easiest, and Stewart took full advantage. Well, Hamlin certainly has good reason to think that Stewart and Harvick are similar in this respect. Once, while Hamlin was interacting with the media after the qualifying in Loudon, Harvick jumped out of nowhere and smashed a pie in Hamlin’s face.

Kevin did some of those things with his teammates as well and so they were kind of cut from the same mold,” concluded Hamlin.

Denny Hamlin tried to shed some light on Kevin Harvick’s underexplored prankster persona, and he has come up with his own theory. He thinks that the prankster personality of Harvick was aggravated by the companionship of Hall of Famer Tony Stewart. He’d already figured Harvick to have a twisted sense of humor, but he also provides an explanation as to why his sense of humor developed.

You know I think his pulling pranks, this comes from probably his friendship with Tony Stewart who really does that quite a bit. So I mean you always see those two guys messing with each other on pit lane or whatever it might be,” said Hamlin. The Tony Stewart-Kevin Harvick friendship is pretty popular among the NASCAR racing community.
