Last year was a particularly difficult time for Martin Truex Jr as his former partner Sherry Pollex passed away. Pollex was suffering from stage 3 ovarian cancer, and after a 10-year struggle, she left for the heavens. This news devastated the NASCAR community, as she was not only Truex’s partner but also a huge part of the sport. To pay tribute to her, many figures from NASCAR came forward to share their respects for her, including Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
It’s been a year since she passed, and the NASCAR community has not forgotten her. On the first anniversary of her passing, Dale Jr’s sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller put up a post to remember her late friend. Pollex passed away at the age of 44 on September 17, 2023, and ever since then, there has been a void in the NASCAR community. To fill the void that she left, Kelley Miller posted an image of herself and the late businesswoman and fans have not been able to help but shed a tear.

Sherry Pollex was an important figure in NASCAR who started a charity for cancer patients back in 2010. At that point, she had no idea that she would be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the next 4 years. Pollex started “Catwalk for a Cause,” a charity event where the NASCAR and fashion world met to raise funds for childhood cancer. When things took a turn for the worse, Pollex and Martin Truex Jr parted ways in Jan 2023 after being with him for 18 years.
Last year, MTJ and NASCAR released heartfelt statements honoring her legacy and what she has done for cancer patients. Kelley Earnhardt Miller, who was quite close with Pollex, remembered her late friend on her death anniversary. That came with a post on Instagram that left everyone a little misty-eyed. Taking to Instagram, Kelley Miller posted a picture of her and Sherry Pollex along with a caption saying, “I miss so many things about you! It still doesn’t sink in that you are not here. I cherish the memories and think of them often. @sherrystrongoc.”
Around the time of Pollex’s passing, Martin Truex Jr made a statement saying that her legacy will outlive everyone in NASCAR today. Considering the amount of lives her organization has changed, this does not come as a surprise. This was further proved true when Kelley Miller put out the post, and fans started to rush to the comments section to mourn Pollex, a year after her passing.
