At that point, she had no idea that she would be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the next 4 years. Pollex started “Catwalk for a Cause,” a charity event where the NASCAR and fashion world met to raise funds for childhood cancer. When things took a turn for the worse, Pollex and Martin Truex Jr parted ways in Jan 2023 after being with him for 18 years.

Last year, MTJ and NASCAR released heartfelt statements honoring her legacy and what she has done for cancer patients. Kelley Earnhardt Miller, who was quite close with Pollex, remembered her late friend on her death anniversary. That came with a post on Instagram that left everyone a little misty-eyed. Taking to Instagram, Kelley Miller posted a picture of her and Sherry Pollex along with a caption saying, “I miss so many things about you! It still doesn’t sink in that you are not here. I cherish the memories and think of them often. @sherrystrongoc.”

Around the time of Pollex’s passing, Martin Truex Jr made a statement saying that her legacy will outlive everyone in NASCAR today. Considering the amount of lives her organization has changed, this does not come as a surprise.
