Within days of the Cup Series season finale, racing organizers are already preparing to let loose cars on the tracks again! Tony Stewart’s Superstar Racing Experience completed its third year of running in 2023. Back in August, it was announced that the series would be returning in 2024 and a schedule was released alongside it. With the promotion not announcing its driver lineup at the time, it appears that pieces are finally beginning to fall into their places for 2024.

Through a recent post on their Instagram handle, SRX Racing put out a short teaser that questioned which star drivers and tracks would be getting calls from them. The post has since left fans intrigued and voicing out their choices for the 2024 lineup.

In 2023, the series had a never-before number of 26-star drivers who appeared behind the wheel in at least one of the six races. The lineup included the likes of Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, and Kyle Busch. From outside the rings of NASCAR, former IndyCar racer Tony Kanaan too had made an appearance. As the series looks to grow every year, the CEO Don Hawk has been eyeing an extensive expansion of car numbers for 2024.

More cars translate to more star drivers, who could be taking part in the 6-week schedule. With the CEO already setting the expectations a few weeks back, the latest update from the promotion is a revelation that things have been set in motion.

In an interview with Autoweek, back in September, Hawk spoke about his driver wishlist for 2024. He said, “As for Dale Jr., he’s not a flat-out ‘no’ yet. He’s ‘no’ for right now, but not forever. He told us, ‘Let’s talk about that next year.’ As for Kyle Larson, he’s just hard to get. I talked to him 10 times this year. But he’s got so much on his plate, including (sprint car racing), and IndyCar next year (…)”

With the update from SRX, fans pitched in with their own wishlists for 2024. Going forward, the series could feature more stars from many racing formats.

Talking about how Tony Stewart wanted to see more stars and cars in his series, Hawk said that he wanted to make sure that he made the entire season an interesting affair. He said, “We want to put on more exciting races and give the fans their money’s worth. We’re going to continue to seek out venues that we can sell out and that have passionate fans, and they all think SRX is a really exciting product and they want to be there.” Watching fans express their enthusiasm for the driver line-up leads one to think that Hawk has already gone some way in his planned direction.

Shouting out their own favorites’ names to be called up, one Cup Series fan wrote, “Seeing William Byron go up against other SRX drivers would be cool”. Behind the #24 Camaro of Rick Hendrick, Byron had his best season yet with Hendrick Motorsports. Though he did not end up winning the championship, he had a season-high of six victory lane visits. A driver of his caliber race in SRX would certainly be an interesting watch.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the man of the hour, with many comments calling out his name. On the wishlist of both the CEO and the fans, we can only hope that the Pied Piper of Daytona agrees to take the wheel for Tony Stewart. Comments read, “Dale Jr would be awesome! If you can convince Carl Edwards to do it that would be even more amazing!”, and “Jr just needs to do at least one start eventually”.

Not very surprisingly, fans weren’t the only ones who were hooked by the promotion’s post. American strongman competitor Jerry Pritchett pitched in nominating himself for the cause. He wrote, “Give me a call!! I’d love the opportunity!” Another distinguished voice that came from the crowd was that of Truck Series driver Dean Thompson. He put up the name of the Irwindale Speedway in California, his hometown, for consideration. Hopefully, Don Hawk will soon unseal his lips and reveal the names and tracks that will be a part of this quickly growing racing series.
