During the conversation, Rico Abreu expressed his unfulfilled desire to race on the Pike’s Peak, Indy 500, and Baja, following which one of the hosts, Kenny Sargent, asked Abreu, “You want to go 300–330 miles an hour in a dragster?” and Abreu’s reply left everyone in splits.
The 2x Chili Bowl winner talked about his hypothetical encounter with Tony Stewart and made a hilarious revelation and said, “I just asked Tony earlier, I said I could start with your junior drag team. He’s got to have a development program, I can start there.” As one of the hosts joked that the drag races might prove too slow for him, he replied, “They [Tony and Leah] are planning on having a child, I can get it ready, tuned in for him.”
The revelation of his exchange with Stewart left everyone in a state of laughter, following which Sargent couldn’t resist the urge to speak up and exclaimed, “Rico Abreu, the test driver for Tony Stewart!” to which Abreu responded, “Junior drag team, TSR [Tony Stewart Racing].”
It’s no guarantee that Tony Stewart would agree to Abreu’s proposal as, after his December 3 lunch session, the 31-year-old sprint car racer officiated terms with Kyle Larson-backed High Limit Racing which could mean his schedule is packed for the 2024 season. High Limit Racing will expand from an 11-race to a 50-race season in 2024.

It happened during the afternoon of Sunday, December 3, when High Limit Racing co-owner, Brad Sweet, paid Abreu a visit over lunch to discuss the future of the new sprint car racing series. It turns out that the deal was a no-brainer for Abreu as he couldn’t resist the incentives being offered, following which he told Speedsport, “To be able to go run World of Outlaws races in between those [High Limit] races, it’s just- why wouldn’t you race with High Limit?”

He then laid emphasis on the prize money and how it could support his team, Rico Abreu Racing’s growth, and said, “They still pay an extraordinary amount. They have $300,000-to-win’s, a couple $50,000’s and a bunch of $20,000’s. That’s important to my team.”
