Bowman Gray, 2025, did not disappoint one bit. From on-track incidents during the race to tempers flaring during qualifying, we had it all in North Carolina this weekend. One notable exchange was between Team AmeriVet’s rookie, Burt Myers, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The Chevrolet driver is a key character from the 2024 NASCAR Cup season after his altercation with Kyle Busch at the All-Star race, which went viral. His incident with Burt Myers caused a similar reaction!

The #47 Chevrolet driver did something on the track that wasn’t at all acceptable, and fans ensured that they made their feelings known. However, it wasn’t just fans who took on the driver. Burt Myers posted on X, sending Ricky Stenhouse Jr. a message, and reminding him of his past at the same time.

Stenhouse Jr. got no love at Bowman Gray

During the main event at the Bowman Gray, it seemed as though things were going pretty great for Burt Myers until Ricky Stenhouse Jr. went in for a wild ride. He managed to wreck fan favorite 11x Bowman Gray Modified Champion Burt Myers. The on-track contact between the two drivers planted Myers right into the wall, causing heavy damage. This is when the red flag was shown, and given that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the one who ignited the contact, a multitude of middle fingers were showcased at ‘The Madhouse’ and fans were indeed quite expressive of their raw emotions.

Throwing it back to the 2024 All-Star Race, Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got into a complete physical abrasion after the race ended. Stenhouse Jr. had waited at Busch’s trailer for him to come back from the race and punched him right in the face. Recreating the same move, a photo was posted by Team AmeriVet on X. The caption read, “Where you at @StenhouseJr?”.

It was a humorous take on what Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had done to Kyle Busch, given that the incidents were quite similar this time as well. Responding to the post, Stenhouse Jr. commented back, “Was there after the race for awhile should have come over then”. Stenhouse Jr. might have called his bluff, but honestly, he was probably safer not going there because Burt Myers doesn’t hold back. In 2024, he got into a huge brawl with officials at Franklin County Speedway during a modified race his son, Slate Myers, was racing in.

After failing in the heat races, Burt Myers made an impressive charge through the 19-car field in the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier, breaking into the top 10 and reaching as high as eighth place before this incident ended his run. Even after the incident, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. could stay in the race and keep his zeal alive for a spot in the 200-lap main event. However, the incident made a heavy impact on Myers, as he was evaluated at the infield care center and later released.

Burt Myers opens up about what happened

What happened on the tracks did contribute to a severe blow for Team AmeriVet. Being a part-time NASCAR Cup Series organization, bringing a historic champion like Burt Myers, was a big deal. Post the race, Myers too spoke about what he thought went wrong once Stenhouse Jr. made the contact. He said, “It was definitely the #47. His bumper and I’m in the infield, so I guess that tells the story. It was an awesome experience. I just hate for it to end the way it did… but we had a great time.”.

He further added, “I got shoved into the #47 and pushed him out. When I got under him, I don’t know if he was upset about that or what. But we ended up hitting the wall. I’ll have to watch the replay to know exactly what happened.” However, it seemed as though it was not only Myers who expressed discontent over the entire situation, as the fans let Stenhouse Jr. know how much they hated him at that moment and Freddie Kraft was quick to notice it.

Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, added, “Damn, I thought Bubba got a lot of middle fingers. I think that was about 30k for Ricky. I hope he’s got armed security to get out of there tonight”. Anyone who noticed the fan reaction during this contact could make out the budding resentment against Stenhouse Jr. Well, after becoming the featured villain of the 2024 All-Star race last year, Stenhouse Jr. has wasted no time to get into that role again at Bowman Gray.
