The 2025 season didn’t quite look like a buffet of options for Corey LaJoie. However, LaJoie chose to carve out a unique niche for himself that gives him the taste of a profession, out of the driver’s seat. He grabbed the mic and released the steering wheel. But, controversy boiled when LaJoie gave up on his full-time seat, and none other than Rick Ware’s son took it over.

However, given the kind of experience LaJoie holds, he will now be the one guiding Rick Ware Racing’s future through his Cup Series journey. Here’s what the full-time entrant had to say about the mentorship he would receive from his senior, LaJoie.

2025 marks a year of new ventures for LaJoie and Ware

As Cody Ware joined Rick Ware as a full-time driver, it seemed to a lot of fans that this is what it’s ideally supposed to be. Joining his dad’s team as a full-time driver, at the cost of a pre-existing driver, seemed to be the problem. Corey LaJoie was reduced to a part-time driver with the team and this is when he joined the sport as an analyst too. Given his deep experience in the sport, starting a career as an analyst could open up opportunities.

However, one more character that the driver will be taking up is that of an advisory role for Cody Ware. He will be guiding Cody through his full-time role. Speaking of the mentorship that he is supposed to receive, the team owner’s son said, “I mean Corey to me is obviously one of the most amazing car talents race car drivers. So be able to lean on him and the work with them is really crucial, there’s still a lot of things where you know I’ve had a lot of experiences being full-time in Cup Series but at this level with the in-depth approach, with team alliance and how we were growing things.”

He further added, “There will be another level of expectations, both as me driver team grows… I’ve not had a coach like of the other guys have had or just having that plethora of racing experience you know, hundreds of super late model races modified…. Corey LaJoie is going to be a biggest assist to me.” LaJoie’s experience at Rick Ware has been quite commendable, although he hasn’t walked up the winning podium. LaJoie joined the team after a barter with Spire Motorsports. The North Carolina native in his short stint with the team had appeared for only seven races behind the No. 51 car. Given that he couldn’t prove his skills, the full-time opportunity slipped and went on to Ware.

However, it is not only Cup Series racing that has caught Ware’s attention at the moment. He is also focusing on the All-Star race at North Wilkesboro and the two fixtures at Darlington Raceway. Given that he is the son of the owner himself and replacing an experienced full-time driver, all eyes will be on Cody Ware as he will have to strive and prove his worth to the team.
