In all sports, there are power dynamics—an evident distinction that separates the best from the rest, the winners from the losers, and the top teams from the bottom dwellers. NASCAR in that aspect is no different at all; in fact, it also has its top teams that have constantly evolved its game to be where it is today and also has low-ranking teams that were barely holding on.
Even though drivers got the worst end of this revolution, the teams have become more competitive than ever. The RFK Racing resurgence is a perfect instance to prove our point here. While Stewart-Haas Racing, the Ford powerhouse, met its match, failing miserably in 2023, the smaller Ford team maximized its efforts and got both of its two drivers into the playoff. Ahead of the 2024 season, another Ford faction, Bobby Benton has come off the woodwork to reveal expectations and how the organization’s new generation platform has helped it close the gap.
Speaking to Fronstretch, Benton said, “There has always been that element of larger teams versus smaller teams and I think there’s been an element at the back of the field where there’s always been participants and I’ve always said there’s a difference between a participant and a competitor and I think what you’ve seen out of RWR is an opportunity to elevate itself into a competitor and the Next-Gen platform has definitely helped a lot.” He also thinks the 2024 season will be the“most competitive season.”

Reflecting on Rick Ware Racing’s new combination, Rick Ware himself said, “Kaz is another crucial piece of our organization and for the same reasons we brought Justin Haley on board, we feel Kaz can also contribute immediately, Kaz wants to make a difference and, above all, he wants to perform. That’s the kind of drive and determination all of us have at RWR.”
