Behind every strong NASCAR team and drivers, there is always an unsung hero. Apparently, this rings true for Hendrick Motorsports, arguably the most successful NASCAR team currently. Obviously, the main stars are Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron and Alex Bowman. However, there is one person working in the background, and his name is Anthony Alfredo.
The 25-year-old currently races full-time in the Xfinity Series with Young’s Motorsports. Additionally, he is a part-time Cup racer with Beard Motorsports and a simulator driver for Hendrick Motorsports. By his own account, he has been part of the HMS family for his third year running, so he was recruited ahead of the 2023 NASCAR season.
Since then, his efforts behind the simulator wheel have paid off handsomely. In the last two years, there has been at least one HMS car in the Championship 4. Now, Alfredo is all set to do it again in 2025 and hopes that the Hendrick Motorsports team wins the title once again, or reaches the Playoffs.

Anthony Alfredo locked in on his task at HMS
Alfredo told Bob Pockrass, “Yeah, I’m working for Hendrick Motorsports now, for my third year in a row as their full-time sim driver. I do that everyday during the week and run thousands of laps at every track that the series is going to. Obviously it gets me a lot of valuable track time, but more importantly, it helps them elevate their Cup programme. Continue to be the dominant company and team that they are in the NASCAR Cup Series.”
According to the 25-year-old driver, when not running in the Cup or Xfinity Series, he is working hard in the HMS sim. The biggest benefit is that it gives him plenty of experience to work on his own race craft. At the same time, the data that he gathers in the sim proves valuable to the team and benefits them in the long run. Thanks to all that, Hendrick Motorsports can still maintain its status as one of the best teams in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Alfredo added, “Obviously, they all have different goals and for us, we’re kind of the neutral party. Just want to see all four of them in the Playoffs and in the final 4. So we really got close to that this year and I’ve made a lot of gains in the last few years. Which has been rewarding to see and I take a lot of pride in what I do there. It’s pretty special to feel valued by such a reputable organisation.”

As for Alfredo, he has yet to win a race at any level but does have 22 Top 10s in the Xfinity Series. Between 2020 and 2024, his best ever finish was 3rd place in 2020 for Richard Childress Racing, and in 2024 for Our Motorsports. Furthermore, the driver also had a career-best championship finish of 15th in last year’s run in the Xfinity Series. Now, he will be aiming to better that when he takes over the #42 Young’s Motorsports Chevy in this season’s campaign.

Alfredo is up for the challenge to compete for wins with Young’s Motorsports
The 25-year-old has had a tough time finding a permanent home with a racing team. While he had the one-off full-time opportunity with Front Row Motorsports, Alfredo has been a regular in the Xfinity Series. But, despite his experience and expertise, he hasn’t found a team that has invested in the driver on a long-term project. It started out with RCR and then he moved to Our Motorsports and B.J. McLeod Motorsports. Our Motorsports looked to be invested with Alfredo, but their decision to sign Kris Wright for the #5 team forced the driver out of his seat.
Even five top 10s and two top 5s weren’t enough for him to retain his ride, but luckily he found a new ride with Young’s Motorsports. As the name suggests, the team is new to NASCAR racing and is looking to make their name going against established outfits. Anthony Alfredo will be replacing Leland Honeyman in the No. 42 Chevy, and he is eager to prove himself with a new team.

“I am very excited to join the Young’s Motorsports team this season. I certainly respect what Tyler and his team are building. It’s clear they are determined to become a serious contender in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and I look forward to being a part of that. I am grateful for the opportunity and am ready to make the most of it.” Alfredo said this in a press release.
Apart from his commitment at the Xfinity level, he will look to qualify for the Great American Race with Beard Motorsports.
