Today, Hendrick Motorsports is one of the most successful organizations in the history of motorsports. Rick Hendricks has built an empire that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. The team has won more than 300 races in the NASCAR Cup Series and has won a whopping 14 championships. In a recent video, Mr. H revealed the secret behind his team’s success, and it has everything to do with teamwork.

Over the years, Hendrick Motorsports has been home to some of the greatest drivers of all time. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are two of the team’s most successful drivers, the former equaling Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty’s record of 7 Cup Series championship wins. HMS has a strong driver lineup today as well, with two former Cup Series champions among its ranks in the prime of their lives.

Hendrick Motorsports has always prided itself on having immaculate teamwork. An important part of teamwork is respecting and caring about one’s team members. In HMS’ recently released video, Rick Hendrick explained that caring about everyone’s success on the team makes them care about the organization, and that makes the whole team better.

“If people know that you care about them and their success, they care about you. I’ve always had that philosophy. I feel like we all built this together so that’s priority 1 for me,” he said.

“But if you got to have it all, you got the have the best mechanics, ER people, pit crews. And it takes everybody when you get all of it together. Driver, crew chief, you know, all the support, then we will be successful. That’s been the key,” Rick Hendrick added.

The 2023 Cup Series season was one of uncertainty for Hendrick Motorsports, but they still managed to get quite a decent result. Owing to injuries, Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman missed a number of races and failed to make it to the playoffs. It was down to Kyle Larson and William Byron to deliver.

While neither driver won the championship, they both made it to the championship race. Between the two of them, Byron (6) and Larson (4) won 10 races. Both drivers were efficient and consistent throughout the campaign, and they even challenged Ryan Blaney for the title in Phoenix on multiple occasions, but it was just not meant to be.

The season might be over, but Rick Hendrick is not done adding a few extra feathers to his hat. It was recently announced that the legendary team owner would be the honoree for The Amelia in 2024.

“For my entire life, I’ve loved automobiles and racing. The Amelia is truly a celebration of both of those passions,” Rick Hendrick said, as per Hendrick Motorsports. “The list of past honorees is filled with names I respect and admire, and it’s incredibly humbling to be mentioned in the same breath.
