Rick Hendrick’s biggest stars found themselves in a slump recently, which has been a point of worry for the HMS mogul! Though one of his drivers has been giving out consistent performances in the last few races, others haven’t really put out a stellar show. However, things seem to be looking up for the legendary team boss as he races to capture his 15th Cup Series title.

This season has been bittersweet for Rick Hendrick. Only two out of his four full-time Cup drivers have made it into the playoffs. His star Cup series candidate Chase Elliott was injured early in the season and had to miss out on a number of races. The 2020 Cup Series champion could not qualify for the playoffs, neither could Alex Bowman. But the two drivers he has in the round of 8 are title favorites and have been in fantastic form throughout the year so far.

However, the journey has not been an easy one for one of the two HMS drivers. William Byron has been absolutely outstanding! The youngest driver of the team has amassed an incredible six victories to his name so far. There are no signs of him slowing down anytime soon. His teammate, on the other hand, was on the verge of elimination.

Kyle Larson has already won three races this year and is a strong contender for the Cup Series title. But he was close to getting knocked out. The round of 12 has always been the stage where Larson has struggled and this season was no different. He finished P31, P15, and P13 which just gave him enough points to make it through.

The round of 8, however, is one that is built for Kyle Larson. The three races in the round will be held in Las Vegas, Homestead-Miami, and Martinsville. These are all tracks the Hendrick Motorsports man has won at before. He won in Vegas in 2021 and earlier this year, finished P2. He won at Martinsville for the first time as a Cup Series driver earlier this year.

And Miami is Kyle Larson’s happy hunting ground. The HMS Star is an absolute beast on its asphalt. Fans were treated to a show of sheer dominance last season when the 2021 Cup Series champion swept the stages and won at Homestead-Miami. This season, he will be looking for more of the same in a bid to make it to the championship race.

Kyle Larson’s Cup Series campaign may be ongoing, but he has already bagged a championship. And that too in his own racing series!

Kyle Larson founded the High Limit Sprint Car Series in 2022 and has already claimed his championship title in the inaugural season of the series! His love for dirt tracks has been evident and becoming the co-owner of a dirt series certainly is certainly a dream come true. The Hendrick Motorsports star won the championship crown by edging out Rico Abreu recently. However, the champion made a concerning revelation afterward.

“It’s tough because it’s in the middle of our playoffs, and I’m not entirely invested in that yet. I guess I’m just supposed to pass a test,” he said.

If he wants to become a two-time Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson needs to get his head back in the game. Perhaps the Sprint Car win was the break he needed and it could provide a fresh start in Las Vegas. Will he be able to win the Cup Series crown this year? Only time will tell.
