Besides, losing his beloved son and several other crew members to a plane crash, he has also been convicted of fraud and has fought a death-defying battle with Leukemia. However, looking at the demeanor of this 74-year-old man, nothing seems to hold him down from sipping on the chalice of dear life.

Recently, when Hendrick Motorsports sailed down the victory lane for the 300th time with William Byron at Texas Motor Speedway, he admitted that he had never thought he’d come this far with the winningest team in NASCAR. But life has been bittersweet for him. Today, Rick Hendrick is known in the arena of NASCAR as one of the most successful entrepreneur. Rick Hendrick became the youngest Chevy dealer in the US after opening Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. He eventually founded the Hendrick Automotive Group, which now has over 100 branches all over the US. The 2013 NASCAR Hall of Famer has collaborated with veteran NASCAR stalwarts like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and even, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

While the world knew of Rick Hendrick’s business-oriented mind, Dale Earnhardt Jr, along with the entire NASCAR community was taken aback when Mr. Hendrick stepped up and extended his helping hand toward two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion and the winner of the 2018 Indianapolis 500, Will Power.

Power’s wife was battling a staph infection on the verge of death when Rick Hendrick emerged like the harbinger of life and set Power up with all the leading doctors and hospitals in Charlotte, North Carolina. Needless to say, Power’s wife Liz recovered slowly, but steadily after receiving expert medical assistance. And Will felt indebted to Mr. H.

Will walked up to Rick Hendrick at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with his helmet from this year’s Indianapolis 500 and handed it over to him as a token of appreciation for Hendrick’s kind gesture. Even though Rick Hendrick had not expected anything in return for his favors, this gift made him feel honored.

Fans on Reddit did not overlook the NASCAR veteran’s gesture as they applauded him for saving Liz Power’s life.

Someone wrote, “This sub constantly insists Hendrick is a monster as countless story after story is made public that he’s a great guy. Is he perfect? No, people never are and while we as fans usually [see] them as black and white when reality is more gray it still speaks to Rick overall is likely a pretty good guy”

An HMS fan said, “As a Hendrick fan I don’t think he’s a Saint but he seems a pretty good guy that cares for the people that work for him or just in the industry as a whole, especially for someone that’s a successful businessman”

Another fan typed, “I believe Rick is a pretty nice guy. He’s just a ruthless businessman which to be successful in that line of work you gotta be a bit ruthless at least.”

“Rick is without a doubt, one of the nicest and most genuine people in the garage. I’ve never seen him ignore someone approaching him just to say hey or ask for a pic,” said another.

A longtime fan admitted, “I’m not gonna tell you Rick Hendrick is Mother Theresa but there’s a reason nobody who’s there has a bad thing to say when they leave.”

On that note, someone said, “That’s good of Mr. Hendrick to do for a racer that isn’t in his umbrella. A wonderful gesture.”
