Some fans even thought it was because of the sponsorship deal with Hardee’s, especially since Hardee’s responded to the Tweet, too.
Whatcha got cookin? 👀

No its about hardee's and there partnership this is just an ad

But that makes you question even more. So, let’s take a better look at both the conclusions the fans drew.
What Did Ty Dillon Announce?
Dillon has been racing the #42 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Petty GMS Racing since the start of the 2022 season. However, less than an hour before Petty’s questionable Tweet, Dillon announced on Twitter that he will part ways with the team at the end of the year.

Moreover, he hasn’t announced any future plans. The timing of the two Tweets really makes you wonder.
On the other hand, Petty’s tweet ended with “I’m giving you The Bird.” Now, this sounds more like a Catchphrase that Petty GMS’s latest sponsor, Hardee’s, might use. So, could they be the reason behind the Tweet? Let’s dive a little deeper.

The sponsorship deal adds a whole new facet to Petty’s latest, ambiguous Tweet. And this is because of what The King said in a statement, “I have been a true fan of Hardee’s for years, so teaming up to celebrate this delicious Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich is a real treat for me!
Petty highlighted the most important detail as he adds, “Plus, I’m looking forward to joining Hardee’s in giving ‘The Bird’ a whole new meaning and surprising some deserving fans here in North Carolina this summer.”
So, the Tweet could be related to the sponsorship deal.
