Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick are not the best of friends. Earlier this season at Pocono, Dillon had an aggressive reaction to Reddick after the two collided on the track. The result of the coming together was Dillon spinning off and crashing hard into the wall as Reddick carried on. The #3 driver of Richard Childress Racing was furious after the incident, and he didn’t hide his frustration. After tossing his gloves away, Dillon emerged from the car with the help of the marshals. Before he was escorted to the infield care center, the 33-year-old threw his helmet at Reddick, who was still driving on the track.
It didn’t take long for the RCR driver to exact revenge on his rival. At the Cup Series race at Watkins Glen last Sunday, Dillon pushed Reddick off track and gained a position on his former RCR teammate. This was enough to draw a reaction from his boss and grandfather, Richard Childress himself. Perhaps Childress was not best pleased with how Dillon dealt with Reddick at the Glen. However, he definitely understood where his grandson was coming from.

“I know he pissed him off,” Childress said when he saw Dillon push Reddick off the track at Watkins Glen.
It was still not half as bad as Dillon had said he would do after he came out of the infield care center at Pocono. At the time, the 33-year-old was fuming and said that he was going to have to start wrecking some cars, perhaps specifically implying Tyler Reddick.
Asked what message he was sending, Dillon replied, “That I was mad.”
“I don’t know. I heard Junior’s replay saying that I came down a little bit. It felt like I was holding my own, he was at my left rear. Going in there I knew we were three wide, think I got the right to at least hold my lane. I mean I gotta turn at some point to get down. Brad’s (Keselowski) on the outside, maybe a half lane up but Tyler drove it in there. Obviously, I feel like he drove it in deep enough where he had to come up the track into me,” he said.
The #3 driver of RCR was then asked, “Was the helmet throw enough or do you need to talk to Tyler?”
“No I just need to start wrecking some people,” Dillon concluded.
With already one Austin in the team, Richard Childress Racing has re-signed another Austin recently for their Xfinity team. Austin Hill, who was also involved in a controversial incident as recently as Watkins Glen, will remain a part of RCR in the Xfinity Series.

“I don’t know what the f**k he signed but here’s what I hope he signed. I hope he signed a multi-year agreement at RCR and in the event he gets approached with a full-time Cup [Series] opportunity and RCR cannot match it, Austin Hill has the ability to leave,” Griffin said on a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast.

Ideally, a multi-year deal should benefit Richard Childress Racing if Austin Hill does get a full-time opportunity to drive in the Cup Series any time in the near future. Do you think it was a good decision on Hill’s part? Let us know your thoughts.
