The Aussies are finally invading the NASCAR world. Earlier in the street course in Chicago, we saw Shane Van Gisbergen acing his debut run. Now another V8 Supercar sensation is entering the arena to make a name for himself. However, this speedster is much younger and has a longer future ahead of him.
The upcoming race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is going to be his debut NASCAR race. Not to mention, it is also SVG’s debut Indy race. A lot of buzz is going on behind the garage about what the future of these two stars will look like in stock car racing.
“I’ve got a lot of boxes I want to tick,” said the 25-year-old motorist

Shane Van Gisbergen has showed his prowess in driving the Australian V8 beasts by winning three Supercar Championships while racing for big-shot Kiwi teams like Tekno Autosports, Triple Eight Engineering, and Stone Brothers Racing. Often referred to as one of the greatest of his time, he has confirmed his transition to NASCAR as a full-time driver with Trackhouse Racing Team. However, the youngster we are concerned about has a lot to do in the tracks of Supercar before he finally starts racing in NASCAR full time, if he at all has plans for the same.
In one of his recent podcasts, Corey LaJoie asked Brodie Kostecki what his future looks like in NASCAR. Kostecki is 25 and at his age, he might have thought of exploring probable dimensions in his career. Hence, LaJoie was curious if Kostecki was here just to have some fun and for the money.
The Perth native aims to establish himself as a formidable competitor in this year’s Supercar Championships.
He said, “I’ve got a lot of boxes I want to tick back home, obviously. We’ve just passed the halfway point of our championship back home and so there’s still that to run out and I’ve got a lot of things to do back home and also the mentality of coming here to just take money; it doesn’t work like that. It’s so competitive here and it’s so hard here. You race every single week.”
He admitted that back in Australia; they had only 12 events throughout the year and his primary motive to drive a NASCAR race car is to just race as much as possible.

Throwback to November 2020, when Paul Morris called Kostecki down to America to take a look at an 800-horsepower orange and blue car. But this car was not just any car. It had an important victory oiled into its gears, back in 2008.
Brodie Kostecki exclaimed, “Marcos Ambrose’s 2008 race-winning Watkins Glen car!”

It is very rare to find such cars in America because most of them were either robbed and put under a new chassis or were vandalized. Morris and Kostecki discovered the genuine race-winning car of a highly regarded Australian V8 Supercar driver who switched to NASCAR.
Kostecki said, “I’ve been pretty privileged today to go out and go through a few laps here at Queensland Raceway, so as I said, they do everything bigger and better in America, so it was great to drive today. She’s got a lot of power under the hood.”
“Whoever buys this car is gonna have a wonderful piece of history in a beautiful car…it’s got the Gatorade stains on the top!” he added gleefully.

As NASCAR fans, we wonder: were the seeds of racing in NASCAR already planted into Kostecki’s mind back in 2020? Was this meeting with Paul Morris purely coincidental, or was it the inception of what Kostecki is doing today in NASCAR? Nobody knows for sure, but a little speculation does not hurt.
