Winning three straight races in NASCAR is a feat that very few drivers can boast about, and Austin Hill will be looking to add his name to that list come Saturday. The Richard Childress Racing driver could not have hoped for a better start to the 2024 Xfinity Series campaign, winning two opening races at Daytona and Atlanta. Now, the focus shifts to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where the 29-year-old has tasted success.

There will be much to prove for the driver of the #21 Chevy this year after he was previously wrecked out of a chance to make it into the championship 4 by former teammate Sheldon Creed. Hill has already punched his ticket to the playoffs and has very little pressure on his shoulders for the rest of the regular season. Perhaps that’s why he is being able to drive freely with the confidence of a future champion.

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been kind to Austin Hill in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The 29-year-old boasts an impressive average finish of 11.3 at the venue. He has run 4 Xfinity races at the track and has recorded 1 win and 3 finishes in the top 10. He will be starting the race on Saturday high up in the pack from P5 and will have a fantastic opportunity to make it a trifecta of wins to start off his campaign. But the job won’t be easy by any means.

In a recent interview with motorsports journalist Amanda Busick, the RCR star said that while it has been a blast winning the first couple of races, Vegas was going to be different. It’s not a superspeedway and so his strategy and driving style will be a lot different. However, the #21 driver believes that he has what it takes to repeat last year’s feat.

“It’s been a lot of fun, winning races, being on Victory Lane, and having all the sponsors there. It’s great but we are at a different race track, we’re not in superspeedways anymore so…feel pretty confident here in Las Vegas where I have been with Chevrolet, obviously won here last here so hoping to have a car that is as fast as the Xfinity internet going into this practice session, into qualifying, have a good start like we’ve had for these past 2 weekends and go to work tomorrow and see if it’s enough when it matters,” Hill said.

Despite his confidence, the 29-year-old was recently advised by a former Cup Series driver to be wary as the season goes on. He will be wary of his new teammate Jesse Love, who could comfortably ruin his threepeat dreams come Saturday.

Jesse Love has been in fantastic form since the start of his rookie year in the Xfinity Series as he started both the Daytona and Atlanta races from pole position. But luck was not on his side on either occasion and he found himself quite far from his teammate in P1. Going into the Las Vegas race, the reigning ARCA Menards Series champion will be as hungry as ever. The 19-year-old’s form may become a cause for concern for Austin Hill as per former Cup driver, Brendan Gaughan.

“This is a young man, what he did at that race, how he controlled it. How he controlled that field. And the poise he showed at the age he is to control the lines and all that stuff, really beyond his years so really proud of him. Excited to see what he’s gonna do this weekend in Vegas. This is the first week of okay, we get to see what we really got. No offence to the superspeedway races. Now we get to see what we have, we’ll see what Jesse Love can do this weekend but keep an eye on this boy because Austin Hill may have won both races and Austin Hill maybe leading the points and Austin Hill is also a great talent but he’s gonna have competition from his teammate over there,” he said.
