Most sports are hugely expensive. Motor racing is even more so. Naturally, the racing drivers are well-paid for their services. Depending on how successful they are, let’s throw in sponsorships and endorsements. So, it wouldn’t be surprising that a number of NASCAR drivers have earned a pretty penny over the course of their careers. Among the richest drivers on the NASCAR grid is Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch.

This isn’t really that surprising because he has been in the sport for a long time. However, there are plenty of drivers who come close to the 2-time Cup Series champion. This is only taking the current Cup Series drivers into consideration, otherwise, Busch could be a lot lower on the scale. In other words, he would struggle to catch up to a Jimmie Johnson, a Jeff Gordon or even a Dale Earnhardt Jr. So where does Busch figure, in comparison to his current contemporaries?

As of 2023, it has been reported that Kyle Busch earns a hefty $16.9 million. When he started his Cup Series career, he was with Hendrick Motorsports for a couple of years, racking up a handful of race wins. Around the 2008 season, he moved to Joe Gibbs Racing, and stuck with them for most of his Cup Series career.

With the organization, he clinched two NASCAR Cup Series titles and was one of its most successful drivers. However, it all fell apart in 2022, and Kyle Busch was forced to seek other pastures in 2023. It didn’t take long for Richard Childress Racing to come knocking, and once pen was on paper, he has not looked back.

After Busch comes his former teammate, Denny Hamlin. The 42-year-old has been in the Joe Gibbs Racing stable, right from the start. Having hit the half-century mark on the win counter, it should be obvious that he is worth a lot of money. So, as of 2023, the #11 driver has a salary of $13.1 million, which is a respectable sum. Some of that will probably come from his role as the 23XI Racing team co-owner. Sure, he may not be a Cup Series champion yet, but the veteran driver is trying his hardest, and is in contention again this year.

Harvick is another veteran of the game, and the 2023 season will be his last in the sport. From there, he will be taking on the role of a commentator for Fox Sports. This season, the 2014 Cup Series champion has earned $10.9 million from Stewart-Haas Racing. The best part is that he is earning every penny, as he is in Playoff contention. This is all in spite of the organization’s poor season as a whole.

Martin Truex Jr

Last year, Martin Truex Jr has been under a lot of pressure. This was because he had underperformed all season and missed out on the Playoffs that year. Fast-forward to 2023, it is like a completely different Martin Truex Jr has turned up. With several wins under his belt, he definitely deserves every penny of his $10.4 million dollar salary.
