Not everything was gloomy in the Busch household on Sunday despite Kyle Busch having a torrid time at the Talladega Superspeedway. Rowdy did not have the day he might have envisioned. The former Cup Series champion has had a string of bad luck over the past few months and things did not look any better on track. Things might not be going well with Kyle and Richard Childress Racing, but his wife seemed to have a gala time at one of Childress’ newer ventures.
For Kyle Busch, finishing in a strong position was crucial. It was a matter of his chances of qualifying for the round of 8. However, a series of unfortunate incidents saw Rowdy finish in 25th place. He now sits in 12th place on the table, 26 points below the cutline. The only thing that can save his fading Cup Series title hopes is a victory but it has to be achieved at the unpredictable Charlotte Roval.

Kyle Busch knew what he had to do to keep himself in contention for the round of 8. The No. 8 RCR car was running quite well in the early stages of the race. However, in the final lap of stage one, disaster struck.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s car ran out of fuel and slowed down dramatically. This caused everyone behind him to go into to scurry in order to avoid contact.
However, Kyle Busch was not one of the drivers who could have avoided any contact. He fell right in the crosshairs of the incident and sustained damage after colliding with Christopher Bell. Things only went from bad to worse for Rowdy since then. He could not do much to improve his track position and ended up finishing 25th.
On the other hand, Samantha Busch kept herself distracted from Kyle’s on-track misfortunes at $7.5 million worth-Childress Vineyards. She uploaded a number of stories on Instagram, documenting her time at the event. One of the first stories she uploaded was a picture of her with her friends with the caption “8 gals @childresswines @richardchildressracing.”
However, her mind was often shifting to how her husband was doing at Talladega. In one of her videos, Samantha Busch revealed what it was like being married to a NASCAR driver.
“We’re distracting ourselves at Talladega by shopping at the vineyard but you know you are married to somebody in NASCAR because you walk around with this (phone with updates on Talladega race).”
In the following story, it seemed like she had witnessed her husband getting caught up in the Ricky Stenhouse Jr. crash. She uploaded a picture where she was looking down at her phone with the caption, “Well c**p it was going well till it wasn’t.”
That caption probably sums up Kyle Busch’s entire 2023 season so far. He started off strong with RCR, winning three races in a short period of time. But since then, things have only gotten worse. Rowdy is now on the verge of elimination unless he can pull off a miracle.

After the disappointment that was Talladega, Kyle Busch is 26 points below the cutline. He has only one job at the Charlotte Roval. Win. But given how inconsistent RCR has been this year, it’s highly unlikely that he will even stand a chance.
As per NBC, the two-time Cup Series champion said, “When I could make moves, get in good positions and put myself in good spots, I could get up towards the front. My chess match is apparently horrible or I get hung-out every time it comes down to the end and we just lose spots.”
“That’s our last shot,” he added when asked about the Charlotte race next weekend. “So we’ll see what we get.”

2023 has been a humbling experience for Kyle Busch who had jumped from Joe Gibbs Racing after 15 years. The transition has not been as smooth as people believed at the start of the season. But there can be no doubt that Rowdy will do whatever he can to be back stronger next season.
