The magic of Mark Martin, the charisma of Carl Edwards—the iconic #60 race car instantly conjures images of countless triumphs associated with it. Between 1992 and 2015, the #60 car took home three championship titles and 94 wins. Unfortunately, the team shut shop at the end of the 2018 season. But it looks like the #60 garage is going to be up and running soon.
Co-owner Brad Kesewloski has transformed the dwindling team in the past two years, and it seems that RFK Racing’s Xfinity program is going to be revitalized next. The #60 team’s social media page became active after 5 years and unveiled a glimpse of what is to come. The racing community couldn’t help marveling at the likelihood of a thrilling new announcement.

In 1992, Mark Martin grabbed the checkered flag with the #60 Ford at the North Carolina Speedway. That began an impressive streak of 25 years wherein the race car was recognized for its sheer dominance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Chris Buescher’s 2015 championship marked the end of its full-time run and by 2018, RFK Racing President Steve Newmark was ready to concentrate their resources toward the Cup Series.
In a conversation with Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, Newmark said in 2019, “We’ve decided on how we’re positioned we’ll step out of that for a year and see how that goes and just focus all the resources, all the engineering, all the wind tunnel on making sure that we perform to our expectations at the Cup level.” Along with Buescher, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards had also piloted that car to win championships for Roush Fenway Racing. But Newmark insisted the Xfinity team was always meant to be merely a precursor for Cup expansion.
“We’ve always used Xfinity as a feeder series … We look at the engineering talent, we look at our crew chiefs, and we kind of felt like we had all the pieces of the puzzle in place and so really what we need to do is go out and execute at the Cup level and we’ll see where we end up in Xfinity in the future.” However, in the past five years, the focus remained on NASCAR’s top-tier series and fans gave up hope of seeing the #60 Ford race past them on tracks. But team owner and #6 driver Brad Kesewloski could soon refresh those memories.
For the first time since Chase Briscoe’s last ride in Homestead-Miami in 2018, the #60 Team’s social media page has shared a mysterious post captioned, “NEW STAGE LOADING…”
