Losing is a bitter feeling for everyone, even NASCAR drivers and team owners. Especially if the margin of victory is 0.001 seconds. RFK Racing and the Ford contingent could have made a big statement with a win at Kansas Speedway last weekend. Heck, Chris Buescher, and the team even celebrated based on the electronic signals they received from the transponder, but the celebration was cut short as NASCAR announced Kyle Larson as the winner.

The team certainly didn’t like the feeling of being on the losing end and took to X, highlighting the crooked start-finish line. The caption of the post read, “Just gonna leave this right here…” Despite the confirmation of how NASCAR used the high-speed camera to determine the winner and not the painted line, the guys at RFK are still not over last weekend’s disappointment.

It was indeed hard to call out the winner between the No. 5 and the No. 17 cars last weekend at the Kansas Speedway. Although it felt like Buescher had the win in his bag, the official declared Larson the winner after taking their time to review the finish with the help of the high-speed cameras.

The driver was absolutely devastated to see himself on the losing side, having experienced the winning feeling. “I don’t know what to say right now. I haven’t seen the replay other than the picture, and I sure can’t see it in that picture. Sucks to be that close.” Even after he was shown the visuals from the finish line, he said, “I still can’t see.” Emotions were running high for the driver and the entire No. 17 team.

Fortunately, paying attention to their social media antics, Darlington Raceway has decided to stay out of trouble and the news. The staff at the racetrack painted a symmetrical start-finish line so that, in case there’s another photo finish, they can be in a safe spot. Acknowledging the change for this weekend, RFK Racing via their X account wrote, “Paint guy understood the assignment.”

However, as soon as the team posted this online, fans from other race teams were quick to shut down the noise in the comments section.

By all means, the social media platform X is a platform for everyone to share their views, whether they are justified or not. However, there’s a thin line between putting a point or opinion across and making a complaint. And according to a fan, RFK Racing’s recent antics online were nothing less than repeated complaints about last weekend’s race result. “Sir, this is X, where there is a will there is a way to complain”

For a team that hasn’t been to victory lane for 22 races, it is natural for them to get frustrated after a near-miss win. However, this does not warrant them to keep ranting about the fine details that had no role in determining the results. Sharing this sentiment, another fan wrote, “Y’all still salty?”. This was followed up by a response aimed at the social media handler at RFK camp, “Social media guy still seems a bit bitter lol”

One user took the opportunity and even educated the NASCAR team on why they should stop calling it a start-finish line. After all, it is just a thin, invisible line that takes high-speed pictures to determine the winner. “Stop callin it the start/finish line, We should just start calling it the starting line because according to nascar it’s not the finish line”

The No. 17 team has been running hot and cold since the start of the season. And in all fairness, they still have work to do to be in contention for the win against the HMS and JGR cars. Well, it would be harsh to call the RFK team mediocre, but one unapologetic fan didn’t pull any punches in his response to the social media post. He wrote, “Y’all didn’t win the race quit crying, your team sucks”

Call it banter or being salty, but RFK Racing has gotten all our attention this past week or so. Hopefully, they will deliver on the racetrack this weekend after coming so close to victory last weekend.
