After being out for a month because of an injury sustained on his back, Alex Bowman is finally ready to make his comeback to NASCAR. Before his injury, the #48 driver enjoyed a pretty decent season with three finishes inside the top 5 and three inside the top 10.
But him being out for three points races, Dover, Kansas, and Darlington, has made sure that he currently sits five points out of the 16th and final playoff qualifying position.
Of course, with 13 races remaining in the regular season, Bowman can find his way into the playoffs. And his quest to get there will start at the Coca-Cola 600, a race in which he is starting from 31st place.

Yet for those who think he won’t be able to get going right from the get-go after being sidelined and after starting from the 31st place, Bowman has some news for you.
Alex Bowman reasons why he can win at Charlotte despite starting from 31st place
Ahead of the Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, journalist Bob Pockrass asked Bowman how he expects to maneuver his way through the field all the way from 31st to being in contention to win the race or at least get a decent finish.
“One of the best crew chiefs on the pit road, best teams on the pit road, top five best pit crew on the pit road, no reason we can’t accomplish it. So honestly, if I can drive the racecar at the level that I think I’m capable of doing and we have a good car from when we take off, there’s no reason why we can’t win from 31st,” Bowman replied.
Alex Bowman is confident he can go 600 miles at Charlotte. He explains why, how it felt when they dropped the jack in the test and the challenge of starting 31st. Oh and he asked about lights just because. pic.twitter.com/mJP4joe3dR

“I think for me, I wanna make all the laps, I wanna have a good solid top 10 day coming back from breaking my back. Yeah, there’s no reason with our race team and our capabilities we can’t win from anywhere we start, everywhere week.”

Despite the 600 miles of distance and the bumpy surface of the Charlotte Motor Speedway being the obvious causes of concern for Alex Bowman who is recovering from a serious back injury, Joey Logano thinks the #48 driver would fare well. “It’s got to be hard,” Logano said as per Orange County Register.

“But Alex is a professional and he’s been racing his whole life and he’s a good driver. I’m sure it’s going to feel a little weird at first because you’re getting in (a car) and going really fast and it takes a few laps to get used to it again.”
With that said, do you think Alex Bowman will have a good day at the Coca-Cola 600? Or will it take him a few more weeks to get up to speed because of his injury?
