The Ford Performance, one of the most successful manufacturers of NASCAR, maintained its dominion on the track of Michigan International Speedway. The race which was carried over to Monday due to the deluge delivered a performance that made fans sit at the edge of their seat. The drivers did not budge for an inch and gave way to their fellow drivers and fought tooth and nail in order to retain and climb up on track position.

The anticipation was running high deducing as to who shall be taking the chequered on the tracks of Michigan, with Kevin Harvick being the defending champion after notching his victory on the D-shaped track in the 2022 season. However, it seemed that the track was ready to usher in a victor, someone with a stronger link to the track. Chris Buescher seized his second back-to-back victory since 2009 on his team’s home track and also sent a befitting reply to its rival team, Team Penske.

It was an emphatic victory for RFK Racing as well as Chris Buescher as he snatched his victory on the home track of his team owner, Brad Keselowski and Jack Roush. The notion of being a championship contender by the team, still in its nascent stage was surely not anticipated and was an ambitious step.

However, Buescher turned the tables as he took charge of putting his team back in the championship-contending position. This was evident when the driver was able to translate and repeat his victory feat from the track of Richmond to Michigan. Buescher who had started within the top 10 for the race on Sunday was able to hold on to his position before momentarily falling back only to claim back the lead from Martin Truex Jr.

Both the drivers engaged in a fierce and door-to-door battle, but it was the RFK Racing driver who had the final laugh after he held off the JGR driver and emerged victorious. The victory seemed to alter the position of the team under the pecking order of Ford Performance and also sent a befitting reply to the other rival Ford teams. This was apparent in the post-race interview of Chris Buescher when the interviewer asked about the position of the team and set the dominance.

To this, the driver replied, “I mean results will do it, right? and we have got work to do yet but that’s massive progress right there for us to do. Two vastly different race tracks and we got road races coming up I am excited for those too and Daytona so, I look at the schedule ahead of us and this is a heck of a time to get turned on and get rolling.”

This reply comes a week after NBC reporter Kim Coon had asserted it was Team Penske who was the dominant team among the Ford Garage.

It was too early for RFK Racing to announce its superiority on the track, but the narrative was constantly shifting and evolving within the teams. She expressed, “I’d like to see more consistency over the course of more than just a year and a half from the changes that were made when Brad came in and where they’re going with the team now.”

I do think though they are at a place where they’re toe to toe, if not maybe have a toe over the line relative to SHR and SHR is still winless on the season,” she added.
