A storm of disappointment and dissatisfaction has plagued the NASCAR and IndyCar gaming landscape in recent years. NASCAR video gaming enthusiasts have yearned for an immersive and engaging gaming experience that lives up to the thrill of the real thing. The company responsible for creating these games, Motorsports Games (MGS), lies at the heart of the issue.
MGS has been mired in controversy and chaos, with their titles often criticized for being lackluster and riddled with bugs. One such game, NASCAR 21: Ignition, has left fans disheartened, wondering if the glory days of NASCAR video games are a thing of the past. The ailing company has struggled to capture the essence and excitement of this adrenaline-pumping sport, leaving a void for fans who yearn for a truly captivating gaming experience.
But there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Rumors are swirling that iRacing, the renowned racing simulation company, may be considering the acquisition of MSG. Should these whispers of a potential takeover materialize, the future of NASCAR gaming could be transformed, offering a fresh start and a chance to reignite the passion of fans who have been left disenchanted.

Struggling NASCAR official video game license holder might be sold to $4 Billion giant
Conversely, iRacing has carved out a niche for itself by concentrating solely on the simulation racing experience. In stark contrast to MGS, iRacing has been experiencing tremendous success. Boasting a staggering valuation of nearly $4 billion, iRacing has left MSG far behind in its wake.

Currently, MSG’s valuation pales in comparison, standing at a modest $20 million. Moreover, the exit of the company’s CEO does not help them either.
After everything MSG has tried over the years to get back into business, their options remain limited. The most plausible explanation for Motorsports Games to go ahead with would be to sell off the assets for the company.

Now the potential buyer in this landscape would be none other than iRacing. However, it’s important to note that iRacing primarily targets simulator racing games, while MSG caters to casual sim-cade users.

Additionally, an IndyStar report indicates that iRacing continues to show interest in ongoing discussions, aiming to potentially form a future partnership, despite IndyCar’s exclusive gaming agreement with MSG.

EA Sports might also try to buy the ailing company
Furthermore, there is no guarantee that it will be iRacing after all. Another possibility could be EA Sports. This is considering how they have been growing their market share in the sim-cade genre of racing games. Moreover, it is interesting to know that at one point in time, EA Sports actually used to make official NASCAR games.
Considering the recent acquisition of the Formula 1 game franchise from Codemasters and the takeover of the licensing for the official WRC games from Nacon, it makes it all the more plausible that a possible sale of MSG would lure in the triple-A gaming giant.

However, only time will tell if these speculations become reality. Although, one thing is certain: the NASCAR gaming community is holding its breath. They are hoping for a brighter and more exhilarating future. And if the stars align, that future just might be on the horizon.
