The story of L.W. Wright is one that a lot of fans know about. In fact, some even consider him NASCAR’s D. B. Cooper, the conman that faked his own skill and was never found again. Surprisingly enough, the old legend got Dale Earnhardt Jr. to have a tussle with a fan, for allegedly implying that he isn’t even real, to begin with.
However, there’s more to the story.

The legend of L.W. Wright is one of the most popular NASCAR ghost stories. Because for 40 years, everyone thought L.W. Wright was nothing more than an urban NASCAR myth. Anecdotes suggests he somehow convinced his sponsors that he was a skilled driver and had a racing license. With that, he made his way to a grid full of stars like Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty. Unfortunately, Wright could not put any money on his horse and was disqualified after 13 laps.
Many still believe he’s nothing more than a rumor, and plenty of people in the community still use that story to get the people’s attention. And in a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download, even Earnhardt Jr. slyly called out another media house that did an interview on the man, but only released a small part of it.
It all started with a Twitter user calling the Hall of Famer out.
I feel like Dale Jrs LW Wright comments were taking a shot @TheSceneVault and the interview they conducted and I didn’t really like that. I appreciate both these podcasts sharing stories from nascar history.

After another fan questioned the comment, Twitter user, @eric9dodge further explained what he was talking about, further getting attention from both the parties involved.
It just sounded passive aggressive. They know scene vault had an interview but he and Mike never named them and then but referenced their interview and insinuated it might not be the real person. 🤷♂️. I just took it as very odd exchange.

Of course, The Scene Vault shot a tweet at Dale Jr. himself, who responded by asking them to release the entire interview.
Release the tapes!! 😀😂

This was quite an interesting confrontation. But L.W. Wright could actually be a real person because earlier in 2022, he came back into the media eye.
The conman Dale Earnhardt Jr. doubts broke his 40-year-long silence only to reveal something his legendary father said
Junior might doubt L.W. Wright’s existence, but his father allegedly gave the conman some advice back in his day. L.W Wright revealed that Dale Sr. gave him some very sound advice as he quoted him, “When you get out there, you get on the back of someone who’s been here before and follow them. Stay with them, and then make your move.”
Sadly, the seven-time champ isn’t with us anymore, so there is no way to really verify it other than simply taking his word for it. But this could also be why Junior simply doesn’t believe that Wright is a real man. Because maybe he knows his father too well to blindly believe what he said.
