2024 is upon us and NASCAR’s silly season is awaiting conclusion amidst the drastically changing paradigms. Months after the 3-time Supercar champion, Shane Van Gisbergen, ascended the throne in Chicago, shaming the Cup Series regulars with his landslide victory in NASCAR’s inaugural street race, the 34-year-old is gearing up for a massive comeback to America.

Consequently, the driver was the man of the hour. He was even invited to sit down with one of NASCAR’s finest veterans, Dale Earnhardt Jr as a special guest where he dropped some massive revelations. And as we enter the new year, it looks like those inside scoops from SVG are finally coming to fruition as the driver’s longtime sponsor and motorsports icon, Red Bull, is probably planning for a NASCAR comeback.

The Trackhouse Racing boss, Justin Marks recently teased NASCAR nation with an intriguing social media post that has tickled the community’s curiosity. But what made people think the energy drink giant is preparing for a comeback after its 12-year-long hiatus?

The world of NASCAR was taken aback in surprise when the Chevy-powered team’s boss sparked fresh speculation owing to his social media outing, tagging SVG, Red Bull, Team Chevy, Weather tech, and his team. Reports confirm that the SVG will in fact return to NASCAR in the upcoming season, donning a full-time role in the Xfinity Series and a part-time role in the Cup Series.

Marks took it to his Instagram to share a sneak peek of SVG’s secret signing, hinting at a possible Red Bull return, tagging the partners in his story while captioning it, 2024 LETS GO.”

Since he has been a proud Red Bull athlete since 2016, SVG was asked about a possible Red Bull tie-up in NASCAR by Dale Jr last year to which Gisbergen said, “I don’t know. We haven’t got there yet.” He then continued. “But it would be awesome to have them come over here and get back into NASCAR side of things. Like they had some success in NASCAR. Yeah, they haven’t been here for a few years and, hopefully, after Chicago, that entices them a bit. Maybe next year, I am doing a whole bunch of cool stuff and yeah hopefully they come aboard. We’ll see.”

Australian Supercars Championship and NASCAR are pretty much built on a similar foundation. However, there are some major differences. While NASCAR is more focused on speedway runs, and short track races with a growing interest in road races, the Aussie series is more road-focused that has potent drivers that could rival NASCAR champions.

This was evident in Chicago when SVG made history, winning NASCAR’s first-ever street course in grand style, crushing the Cup Series regulars, and cutting through the field like a hot knife through butter. With the debutant’s performance taking everyone by surprise, teams brought in more Supercar talents like Brodie Kostecki, the 2023 Supercar champion and Gisbergen’s Aussie rival.

Now, that the trend of teams bringing in foreign talent has picked up the pace, RCR boss, Richard Childress, flew down to Adelaide to see Kostecki winning the title, and inviting him over to NASCAR for select races with the Chevy-partnered team in 2024. Besides Kostecki, the talk of the town is Cam Waters, the Supercar sensation recently roped in by RFK Racing. Waters will look to join 2023 Supercar champion Brodie Kostecki in NASCAR as part of RFK Racing’s three-race plan.
