The burnout event after the NASCAR season has become a highly sought-after event for fans ever since last year. However, as reports emerged that with this year’s award ceremony in Nashville, the iconic burnouts would not be taking place, fans were left outraged. They soon took to social media to express their displeasure.
Journalist Bob Pockrass stated, “The awards ceremony from Nashville will honor all the NASCAR national series champs Dec. 1 in Nashville. TBA as far as any telecast/stream as well as any fan activities in Nashville (no burnouts planned for this year).“

The event has all 16 playoff drivers go head to head performing burnouts, under the lights at Nashville. Multiple celebrities attend the event too. The cars are fitted with neon lights to illuminate the smoke they produce from all the rubber smoke. Last year’s iteration saw, Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson perform burnouts along with the Truck, Xfinity, and ARCA Menards Series 2021 champions. The event was capped off with an amazing display of fireworks, which every attending fan enjoyed.
Following the burnout event, all champions across NASCAR’s racing series are crowned for their respective championships titles. However, Pockrass also mentioned that plans to broadcast the event had still not been confirmed.
NASCAR Fans react to “no burnouts” reveal
Fans were outraged to hear that there would not be any burnout event during the award ceremony in Nashville. Considering how big of a spectacle the event is, its absence is highly demotivating for fans who have been waiting for it all year long.
Fans took shots at the President of NASCAR Steve Phelps and asked that he should be fired for calling quits on the burnout events. On the other hand, others suggested that events like this should happen more often especially when an exhibition race is taking place. One it adds to the marketing of the sport, second it kind of draws newer demographics into its ever-so-diminishing fan base.
Although the burnouts aren't necessarily "important" to the sport, losing little fun things like that really sucks. We need more of that sort of thing, especially around the exhibition races.

Probably no burnouts cause it’s the next gen and they don’t wanna destroy the rear quarters? Idk seems dumb not to have them though. The burnouts were the best part.
