Ever since Shane Van Gisbergen’s infamous victory in Chicago, everyone has been excited to see him again. Even though he might not be eligible to compete in the playoffs this season, people know that he is going to be in the Cup Series next season.
His seat was somewhat reassured when he met one of the most loved people in the NASCAR world, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Right before his second Cup Series race at Indianapolis, Gisbergen was featured in the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download. Where the Kiwi talked about his excitement for the second race and about his fellow Supercar friend Brodie Kostecki joining him on the grid. However, Earnhardt Jr. seemed skeptical about Kostecki performing too well in the very first race.

The current championship leader of the Repco Supercars Championship Brodie Kostecki would be driving for Richard Childress Racing this weekend. Considering Shane Van Gisbergen’s performance in Chicago, Kostecki will reach Indianapolis with a lot of expectations on his shoulders.
In the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download, we heard Gisbergen and Dale Earnhardt Jr. talk about Kostecki’s debut. In the podcast, Gisbergen sounded confident in Kostecki’s talent. However, Junior presented a point of view that might end up being a problem for Kostecki.
The Australian will be driving the third RCR car in the race at Indianapolis. According to Junior, usually, the third car might lack some pace, which could be drastic for Kostecki. In the podcast, Junior said, “Brodie’s (Kostecki) car I think will be good. RCR’s gonna be pissed at me. I think that car will be just a tenth or two off.”
He added, “It’s the third car. It’s not the top car. It’s not the A car. And Brodie (Kostecki) I know he’s got some stock car experience. He’s not going to be completely foreign to it. And he has been running tons of sim for RCR, so maybe I handicapped him hard. But I’ll be curious about how he’ll run.”

Shane Van Gisbergen achieved a lot through his win at the Chicago Street Circuit. His performance didn’t only leave an impression on the fans and commentators. Even a legendary driver like Kyle Busch feels that the 34-year-old Kiwi has the potential to win another race in NASCAR.
Busch in a recent interview said, “I would say he is the favourite going in, for sure. I would say that the gap will be closer from Chicago to the rest of the field that he had. He had us all beat by six-to-eight tenths of a second a lap.”
However, he added, “I would say going into Indy we should all be within two-to-three-tenths, but he will still be the best guy.”
