The Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain feud flared up this year and does not look like it will go away soon. Sunday’s Cup race at the Pocono Raceway was just the latest episode of their skirmish. This time around, Hamlin squeezed the #1 driver to the outside wall and Chastain lost momentum. In light of this, former NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett defended Hamlin’s antics.

He said, “Ran him out of race track. That’s all that he did, to where the other driver has to make a decision. When you run into someone from the back, in their left rear quarter-panel, they don’t have a decision. There’s no decision to be made in that situation, except for the driver who is applying the hit.”

“Denny was not doing anything except giving Ross the opportunity to back out of this and lose a couple of spots off of Turn 1 there.”

“And Ross chose not to do that. And I don’t think there was anything wrong.”

“As a matter of fact, I think the way that he did it and handled it, was masterful in a payback situation.”

Hopefully, they can actually end this vicious cycle of revenge. Right now, both of them have already qualified for the Playoffs, so things don’t really matter at the moment.

On the other hand, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver and the Trackhouse Racing driver cannot afford to let their feud bleed into the Playoffs. To be precise, the more they try to exact revenge on each other, it will only hamper their chances of winning the 2022 Cup title.
