At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend, Joey Logano triumphed. In the process, he locked his berth in the Championship 4. However he could have very easily lost it, because he had the likes of Ross Chastain breathing down his neck. Speaking after the race, the #1 Trackhouse Racing driver spoke about how his race panned out, and whether he had a chance to win.

He said, “That was all we had, I mean there was a clear difference in tyres there. So we fully believed we could hold him off and win the race on the tyres we had. Joey did a really good job of getting through the field, so at the end, I hope I’m racing that guy for a really long time. Like we’ve been saying all year, this is the arrival of Trackhouse, and I wouldn’t want to be doing it with anybody else.”
What else did Ross Chastain say about his race at Las Vegas?

He acknowledged that he did have plenty of support from his team for his quest to win. Chastain was asked whether he was looking at the camera while making his moves up the order. This was especially important in his attempts to block the Team Penske driver and stop him from overtaking him.
“I don’t know, instinct takes over and its all camera-based. McReynolds is up in my ear from the top and just giving me information, coaching me. But I’m the one making my decisions and my moves, I’m sure I can go back and find a few things and To run the top there and let them get inside of me. I thought I had one more corner to do that and he just got position on me on the front stretch. It was really tight.”

One thing is for sure, Chastain will be raring to go next weekend at Homestead-Miami. If he can win there, it will automatically seal his Championship 4 berth, alongside Logano.
