Treating fans to a phenomenal Xfinity Series race at Michigan that saw Joe Gibbs Racing secure their 200th Xfinity race win, NASCAR then looked forward to the FireKeepers Casino 400 race. As anticipated, the Cup race at the Michigan International Speedway was jam-packed with wrecks and cautions, and had the entire NASCAR community on the edge of their seats. But for how long!
While fans were engrossed in the race’s stunning visuals, their excitement was quickly spoiled by Mother Nature’s wrath—once again.

Delayed due to inclement weather, the FireKeepers Casino 400 Cup Series race started 1 hour 43 minutes past its scheduled time. Enthralling fans with tons of paint-rubbing and wipe-out action, the Michigan Cup race saw Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Josh Berry crash out of the race—not because of some aggressive tactics by their rivals, but perhaps because of the surprisingly difficult conditions.
Driving out to the front of the field, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr claimed the stage one win, just as Byron got loose and slammed into the wall in turn 4. With the race moving into its second leg, the rain rolled in again despite meteorological data saying otherwise, drawing out the yellow flags.

As the cars lined up on Pit Road under caution, drivers waited in anticipation for the rain to blow over. With just 74 of the slated 200 laps completed, Mother Nature’s rainy curse shrouded the 2-mile oval, forcing the race to be red-flagged. Naming 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick as the race leader, NASCAR then elected to postpone the race, scheduling it for Monday at 12 PM ET. Disheartened by Mother Nature’s constant attack on NASCAR’s race weekends, fans departed from the Michigan oval with heavy hearts.
