Tony Stewart has some good news for fans! Remember how John Andretti on May 29, 1994, became the first driver to race the double at the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600? He finished 10th at the Indy 500 but at Coca-Cola 600, he had to drop out of lap 200 because of engine failure. But now, fans had the opportunity to do a double too!
In quick succession, Smoke announced two exciting surprises that they can expect to witness in the coming months. The first of them is set to kick off this Saturday in Indianapolis! In a recent video on his official Instagram handle, Tony Stewart revealed, “If you know me, you know how passionate I am about the Indy 500… The double has been reserved for only us racecar drivers crazy enough to run 1100 miles in a single day, until now. Our friends at Advance Auto Parts are excited to give you, the race fans, a chance to do the double.”
He revealed that Advance Auto Parts is hosting a fan competition. “The winner of this contest will attend the Indy500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. You, plus a guest of your choice, will get the full VIP treatment at both races, courtesy of Advance. To register, make sure you’re a member of Advance’s Speed Perks Loyalty Rewards Program, then visit AAPDoTheDouble.com.”

Throughout the infamous Indy500 and Coca-Cola 600 Double’s history, Tony Stewart is the only driver who has managed to complete all 1100 miles of both races (1999 and 2001), and he did so without falling down a lap. To date, there have been three drivers (John Andretti, Robby Gordon, and Kurt Busch) other than Stewart who have attempted but failed to complete the Double Duty. Even Davy Jones wanted to attempt it in 1995. Although he successfully qualified for the Indy 500, he couldn’t do the same for the Coca-Cola 600.
But now, as Kyle Larson might join the club, a few fans can boast the same. Although Kyle Larson could make moves toward that record this year, it is not confirmed. But coming back to Stewart, he has a second surprise for his fans. What could it be?
