Kyle Busch tried his best to maintain his cool this season. After the race at the Circuit of the Americas, Busch strutted over to Christopher Bell’s car and shot a few threats at him. The meek, baby-faced JGR driver took the situation under control as he responded calmly. Hence, Busch’s rowdy side could not reveal itself that day. However, the All-Star Race spelled a different story.

The second running of the All-Star Race at the now-revived North Wilkesboro Speedway hosted pomp and grandeur. Fireworks burst high up in the sky as drivers raced under the night lights. But some ground fireworks were scheduled as things got steamy between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Soon after the race flagged off, Ricky Stenhouse Jr‘s No. 47 attempted to make a three-wide pass. This pushed Busch’s No. 8 car to the wall. But the rowdy stud could not digest this and chased Stenhouse for payback. Kyle Busch chased the JTG Daugherty driver and finally reached him on lap 2, pushing Stenhouse pretty well, as the latter slammed against the wall and spun out of the $1 million prize contention race.

While Stenhouse Jr finished 20th, Kyle Busch clinched a meager P10 finish. Post-race, Busch was filmed walking over to talk things out. Rowdy seemed disinterested in a brawl, but Stenhouse had other plans. After a feisty exchange of words, Stenhouse threw the first punch as Busch tried to block with one arm. Then things became an ugly mess.

The Richard Childress Racing No. 8 team and the JTG No. 47 team declared a short war on each other. Besides Kyle Busch and Stenhouse Jr’s animated brawl, crew members also did not hold back. In fact, both drivers were restrained long before the brawl finally saw its end.

In a post-brawl interview, Ricky Stenhouse Jr expressed his frustration. He was tired of Busch “running his mouth talking about me” after he had wrecked him at Daytona in the past. Taking a dig at Kyle Busch’s tedious winless drought, Stenhouse also added: “I know he is frustrated because he doesn’t run as well as he used to.”

This broke Busch’s long fight-less streak since he hurtled his fists at Joey Logano in 2017. On the last lap of the Las Vegas race that year, Logano spun out Busch and sent him spinning down pit road. Kyle Busch was enraged as he confronted Logano and the two engaged in a violent brawl. When crew members pulled the two apart, blood ran down Kyle Busch’s forehead.

But this time, Busch’s previous bullring opponent steered clear of any trouble. Moreover, Logano clinched his first season win dominantly.

Logano made history in the All-Star Race a short while ago. He posted the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday and started on the pole. Then he owned the race, leading all but one of the 200 laps to win and earn $1 million. Logano set a record by leading more laps than any driver has in the race’s 40-year history. He had also won the race in 2016, but this race was special as he broke his winless streak since the Atlanta race in March 2023.

Team Penske President Michael Nelson called it a great day for the organization. “We have been close this year [in NASCAR] and to finally make it happen on a day like today, if you had to wait this was the day to get that done. A great day for Mr. Penske and the whole organization.” The Penske fold was enraptured in further celebration as they also swept the top three starting spots at the Indianapolis 500 earlier in the day.

Hence, Joey Logano stuck around the pole position all day long, avoiding getting entangled with his age-old foe, Kyle Busch, again.
