“Teamwork makes the dream work,” this idea was proposed by John Maxwell in his seminal work of the same title. In this book, the author discusses at length the significance of working as a team in order to achieve the desired result. Following the same dictum, the world has come a long way. So has Richard Childress, the founder, and owner of the NASCAR team with the same name. He firmly attests that a complete synergy is required in order to deliver the performance.

In an interview with NASCAR’s reporter Jamie Little, Childress lay bare the secrets behind the success of the partnership between his team and Lucas Oil.

If one revisits the race weekend at the Auto Club Speedway in February and in particular Victory Lane, one will be able to see Kyle Busch with the victory cup and the blue No.8 Chevrolet. They also stamped the blue livery with Lucas Oil’s name, the primary sponsor of Kyle Busch.

This was the teamwork that the owner of RCR had been referring to in the interview, highlighting the success of the team. Lucas Oil may have been a primary sponsor of Kyle Busch, starting this season. However, their partnership with Richard Childress Racing and ECR engines, the primary supplier of engines to RCR, goes back to 2014. The former NASCAR driver upheld this notion of partnership in the interview.

When Jamie Little asked Richard Childress, “What was it like for you to see this company, this relationship that you have with them? They step up to the primary sponsor and they go to victory lane.”

To this, the owner of RCR replied, “I couldn’t be more prouder you know to take Lucas Oil with us. You know we’ve always had it under the hood, on the car somewhere. But to have them, have the blue car with Kyle Busch, the first win, his 19th year in a row to win. And one of his favorite tracks was California. That’s where he won his first race. And to go out there and win it with Lucas was very special.”

And to reaffirm their friendship, Childress added, “And I called Forrest [Lucas] myself and congratulated him on the win. And you know, Morgan, you know that family has done so much, and you mentioned earlier that we kind of started.

“I kind of started with an old $20 dollars race car, taxicab, Bowman Gray Stadium. And Forrest started selling additives in the truck stop. And I’ll tell ya, here we are. We’re both out doing what we love and still doing it today.”

The team owner also cited, “You know I couldn’t imagine today, where ECR our engine department would be without all the engineering, all the support that they have given us. That’s beyond any financial you can get from a company or a partner that you’re involved with. But this oil has been, that they created and sell and they blend for us. It’s just amazing.”

And not jinx the good performance as a team, Richard confesses, “I mean knock on wood, we have never lost an engine because of Lucas oil” And to state the facts RCR and ECR along with Lucas Oils together have achieved a total of 125 victories between 2014-22 and 8 in the present season. Lucas Oil is also sponsoring Kyle Busch for the race in Darlington.
