Overcoming the hurdles
When you have a champion father, a few tricks of the trade come to you naturally. For Haiden Deegan, it was how to look danger in the face and still smirk. Brian Deegan, his father, can boast several stories of crippling accidents; these included multiple broken bones, a severe spleen injury and a lost kidney. So Brian inspired in Haiden the ability to put aside danger while in pursuit of success. We saw a glimmer of that amazing ability at the Supermotocross World Championship. Although Deegan had earned the holeshot, he faced a hard charge from rival Julien Beaumer. The two battled it out for the lead – yet ‘Danger Boy’ Haiden came through in the end.
Beaumer was on Deegan’s back wheel for some time. He attempted to push Deegan up the hill in Turn 1 but could not jitter the latter’s position. Deegan took advantage of the next corner to push Beaumer off the ideal trajectory. Finally, Haiden Deegan secured the lead and rocketed off the banking into glory, creating a huge gap between himself and his rivals. Hailie Deegan’s little brother led all 17 laps to the victory. After this milestone, Haiden reaffirmed himself as one of the top contenders and stamped his name in second place on the overall championship standings.
