The Tony Stewart Racing camp in NHRA seems pretty different in the past few weeks. Leah Pruett used to be the one leading the charge of the team. Be it preparations for the team, media obligations, or guiding Tony Stewart to do better in his rookie season at the Top Fuel level. The NASCAR icon had no option but to hop inside his team’s car as Pruett’s replacement to compete in NHRA Top Fuel races for the full season.
Pruett decided to take a break from racing to start a family with Smoke, and this is the reason behind her absence at the TSR camp. But Tony Stewart and the team made sure Pruett didn’t feel left out and came up with a hilarious idea to mark her presence.

Leah is one of the most active racing personalities on social media platforms. Right from racing to personal events, fans are always up to date with posts on Instagram. Pregnancy didn’t hold her back from making public appearances; she was spotted greeting fans at SEMA 2024. However, with the big day inching closer, she has now decided to stay in the comfort of her home.
Meanwhile, Tony Stewart and Co., who were having a meeting, decided to fill the void of their key member. They designed a pluck card that had the cutout of Pruett’s face, and Stewart was seen posing with it. TSR’s official Instagram page shared the hilarious moment with a caption, “Even when @leah.preutt isn’t at the team dinner, she’s still here.”
In response, Pruett shared a glimpse of the team dinner on Instagram stories with a message of her own. “Glad I could make team dinner tonight, @tsrnitro.” While the fans in the comments section were guessing when they could expect the arrival of Stewart Jr., it seems like Pruett gave a hint about the date in one of her Instagram posts.
This was a baby shower for the arrival of the new member of the Stewart family, and both Tony and Leah were excited to embark on their parenthood journey. “Lil boy will be the first great grand child on my side (finally lol), and we couldn’t be more ready for him join us. Pregnancy is wild. Could be 4 days, 4 weeks… we’ll see!” Pruett wrote this along with a post.

In the 19 NHRA Top Fuel event this year, Smokes hasn’t been able to repeat his winning heroics in drag racing. Of course, a 4-second dash run on a drag strip is completely different than running 400 laps on an oval circuit. He might have struggled to crack the code piloting an 11,000-horsepower dragster to victory lane, but he learned a lot in these 19 races.
Despite the uphill climb, Stewart was able to contest in the Countdown to the Championship, basically the playoffs of NHRA. A total of 10 drivers compete for the title across six races, and the driver with the most points is crowned the champion. The NHRA is now heading into its championship weekend at the legendary In-N-Out Burger Pomona dragstrip.

With a total of 2215 points going into the weekend, Stewart is mathematically out of the championship contention. He is 260 adrift of the top-placed driver and title favorite Justin Ashley. But regardless of the result, at Pomona, Stewart will look to bounce back stronger next year.
