With the Cup Series tango approaching Kansas, NASCAR fans are going berserk over one burning question; Who are the four speedsters worthy of running the Championship 4 race? However, amidst the Cup Series obsession, the excitement about the Xfinity Series playoff rumble has not come down even a bit. And rightfully so. Dale Earnhardt Jr‘s Xfinity prodigy, after winning two dominant races at Road America and Watkins Glen, had aimed at another win at Darlington last week.
But you can’t win it all. Despite having contact with Parker Kligerman, Sam Mayer finished 11 for sure, but it ended the day for the other driver who fell back to a P24 finish. But the Big Machine Racing driver is not ready to back down and unfolds his strategy as the Xfinity Series rolls its course onto Kansas Speedway.

Unlike the Cup Series, there are just 10 spots in the Xfinity Series playoffs. So, it goes without saying that the intensity of the battle will be a lot more. And this year, as Parker Kligerman made a comeback, behind the wheels of a stockcar after quite some time, it will be tricky for him to claim the last spot that SHR driver Riley Herbst currently sits on. But this 33-year-old driver-turned-reporter-turned-driver is all set to bag that cherished win.
Speaking about points, Parker Kligerman is just one behind Herbst. On that note, quite some might think that Kligerman would aim for stage points in the next race. But that’s not what he wants for his #48 Chevrolet. He demands more.
In a conversation with well-known media personality Kim Coon and HMS star Steve Letarte, Kligerman revealed his strategy.
He admitted, “There is a lot going on. It is a pressure-packed situation, but I think for myself and my race team, we’ve been in this mode for the last 4 or 5 weeks.” But what is this mode that this Connecticut native is so fixated on?
He revealed that his mindset was no different from what it was pre-Daytona. Although he has never been in such a tight situation before in his career, he exclaimed, “It doesn’t feel any different. Going into Daytona, I approached that as a must-win cut-off in my mind. That whole week I thought how I approached it mentally was you got to win this race. You got to do everything you can to have maximum stage points…”
“That’s how I am approaching this weekend. It’s a very close points battle, the best way for me as a competitor to approach the weekend is to think, I wanna go out there and win both stages and win the race and if I do that, then points don’t matter,” he added with visible confidence.

Dale Earnhardt Jr must have been very proud of the driver of his #1 Chevy. When a two-time Xfinity Series champion finds a young driver in his team acing Xfinity races with commendable prowess, that feeling of pride is natural. However, the 20-year-old icon regretted his actions that made Kligerman fall below the cutline.
Mayer had been tagging the No. 48 Big Machine Racing Chevrolet and along turn 3, he overdrove the corner and went straight for Kligerman’s bumper and sent him spinning off, bringing out the last yellow flag of the race. During a post-race interview with Frontstretch’s Dalton Hopkins, Sam revealed his true feelings.
“The smaller detail issues ruined our day, but it also ruined someone else’s day,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr’s apprentice, “With Parker I feel really bad about that, I mean, it’s worst case scenario, I should have probably known that they were fading more as that last round went on because going into three the previous lap it was half as much as I had to lap before…”

“I don’t know, I’m racing for everything I’ve got, Parker is too that’s why I’m really gonna have to apologize and mean it because I do,” Mayer sighed.
