When the two most loved legendary drivers of the NASCAR community meet, it is indeed a blast for the fans. It is not a story from the tracks, but something the fans will cherish listening to both together, spilling some beans on NASCAR’s latest. Two-time Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr and seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson were in conversation recently.
NASCAR fans eagerly wait for the new episodes of various Dale Jr podcasts to drop in. It was in the recent episode of Dale Jr Download, where Dale Jr along with Mike Davis, interviewed Jimmie Johnson. JJ talked about his experience being back in the race this year. While in conversation about cars and performance, they talked about the ultimate goal at the Le Mans race. This year NASCAR will be racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours race with the Garage 56 team.

In the interview, Dale Jr. asked JJ, “Do you think that this is a one-off deal or is it something that develops into something more?” To which JJ replied, “I don’t know what the long-term plan is.” This came in as a surprise to Dale Jr., and he asked JJ if he hadn’t questioned this yet. JJ said he has not yet asked this question. Jumping in between the two, Davis said he disagrees with JJ, and he can bet that he has.
Davis teased JJ and said, “Listen, you came on our show a few years ago and said you were thinking about, you’ll figure out retirement, and then like a week later, he announced his retirement from NASCAR. Then in the IndyCar he announces retirement and says, I’m thinking about the mob, probably maybe I’ll do something like that. And we’re like, of course, he then would be lining it all up. You are well ahead. You’re just playing like you know, playing cool about it.”

JJ replied that he can talk about himself and that he’d love to do five trips, but he can’t say what the car is up to. He said, “It would be amazing, but I don’t have that part baked out yet. But you know, I think the car itself you know, I don’t see how we build many more of these. It is a very specialized vehicle for the race along with that being said, I’m probably going to be incorrect and maybe there’s a category in there that can make it happen right .”
