Chase Elliott has had some week. Or rather, some month. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has, in the last four races, finished either as the race winner or the runner-up.
So it was only fair that the #9 driver headed out for some lunch at one of his sponsors, Hooters.
And being the fan-loving driver he is, Elliot asked his fans, what should he order for the table, shrimp or wings?

However, what seemed like an innocent and lighthearted post for a sponsor turned into a banter fest for NASCAR fans.
This was because many of them couldn’t help but crack Denny Hamlin jokes in the comments, referencing the Pocono disqualification of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver that had NASCAR strip the win from him and hand it to Chase Elliott.
Hey. If you head over to DQ for some dessert afterwards, be sure to pick up something for our buddy @dennyhamlin He's kind of having a rough week.

Chase Elliott might’ve won the race at Pocono, but he doesn’t consider himself the winner
There’s a reason Chase Elliott is the most popular driver in the sport today. When NASCAR announced the #9 as the winner of the race in Pocono, the driver was already on a plane back home.
It was not until he landed several hours later that he learned of his victory.
But while you’d assume Elliott having a reaction of joy and jubilance, the reality was far from it.

The reality being that the Hendrick Motorsports driver refused to have the trophy, personally acknowledge the win, and naturally, any celebration.
“I’m not going to celebrate someone’s misfortune,” Elliott said. “That doesn’t seem right to me. I crossed the line third. That’s kind of how I’m looking at it.”

“I don’t think any driver wants to win that way, I certainly don’t.”
