Against all odds, that’s the only way to describe Jesse Love’s P3 finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the Nashville Superspeedway. Despite starting the race from the rear, Love climbed up the grid to the top 10, only to experience a bad pit stop. He made up the lost places once again, only to experience tire vibrations. Despite it all, Jesse Love finished Tennesse Lottery 250 in third place, behind race winner John Hunter Nemechek and second-place Chandler Smith.
Having battled the heat to secure a podium finish in Nashville, Jesse Love proved just how far he has come since his ARCA days. Having struggled in the Xfinity Series over the past few weeks, the 19-year-old has proven his doubters wrong with a majestic performance this time around.

The weekend couldn’t have begun on a worse note for Jesse Love after his No. 2 Richard Childress Chevrolet couldn’t run the qualifying lap due to a radiator issue. This meant that he was forced to start the race at the back of the grid, showing maturity, resilience, and composure beyond his years to finish third.
In the post-race interview with Marty Snider, the pit reporter for NBC Sports highlighted Jesse Love’s dominance at the Tennesse Lottery 250. He said, “Unofficially, you passed 69 cars this afternoon. Have you ever had a race like that and in conditions like this Jesse?” In response, Jesse Love simply said, “Twitter is going to freak out over that one.” And boy was he right!

With in-car temperatures touching almost 130 degrees, drivers were seen standing outside their cars on the pit road, taking water after the race ended. In such conditions, John Love survived a steamy, hot afternoon with a malfunctioning cool suit to hold off a highly motivated field amidst several obstacles. Speaking after the race, Love said, “My cool suit didn’t work. That was my biggest issue.”
The Richard Childress Racing driver hadn’t been in the best form heading into the Nashville Superspeedway, and doubts were raised about his ability to compete in the Xfinity Series. Poor results in New Hampshire, Iowa, Sonoma, Portland, and Charlotte meant Love hadn’t finished above 12th place in five races. With pressure piling on, a result in Nashville will provide some much-needed relief for Jesse Love and will undoubtedly ease the criticism he has been facing from fans.

As Jesse Love predicted, fans had a lot to say about the 19-year-old’s performance at Tennesse Lottery 250. The Richard Childress Racing driver has come under a lot of scrutiny recently, having failed to finish in the top 10 in the last five races. Giving credit where it’s due, a fan wrote, “A lot of people owe Jesse Love an apology. He’s proved all the doubters wrong.”
With three top-5 finishes and seven top-10 results, including the win in Talladega, Jesse Love has had his share of moments in the Xfinity Series this year. However, considering the circumstances and the many obstacles he had to overcome this time around, a fan wrote, “One of the best races I’ve seen from Jesse Love. Another one for the list of his already growing list of incredibly mature drives, he’s gonna go so far.”
In a race defined by brutal heat, Jesse Love had another obstacle to overcome. A malfunctioning cool suit. Risking dehydration, the Richard Childress driver showed a lightning-quick pace to overtake one car after another. Referring to his resilience, a fan wrote, “Jesse Love said in his post-race interview his cool suit also failed. However, that certainly didn’t stop him from turning in the master drive of the day, starting last in a car he was unable to qualify due to mechanical problems, and drive all the way up to third.”
