As we recover from the dizzying brawl-ridden North Wilkesboro spectacle, it’s time to focus on the next weekend. Joey Logano took home the prestigious All-Star title and, along with it, a purse of $1 million. However, the Coca-Cola 600’s purses are already out, and they downplay the NWS purse significantly.

This year, the $28 million Daytona 500 payout trumped any other in NASCAR’s 76-year-old history. William Byron snagged the heavy prize and made Hendrick Motorsports proud. Although the upcoming race prize may not be so hefty, the pomp and grandeur associated with one of the biggest races are sure to make up for the lost green.

The Coca-Cola 600 is one of the crown jewels of NASCAR. Being hosted since 1960, it is also the sport’s longest race of the year. Racers will battle 600-long miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hence, the excitement surrounding this event also tops the charts. Greg Walter, the speedway’s executive vice president and general manager, briefly outlined the fan reception. “We find the Coca-Cola 600 is a bucket list for many. If I want to experience a NASCAR race, this is one of (fans’) top one, two or three.”

Accordingly, the Coca-Cola 600 payouts are also huge. FOX journalist Bob Pockrass recently tweeted the big purses for all three tiers of NASCAR. “Purses for Charlotte weekend, all payouts, all positions and for Cup, all charter payouts for racing, historical performance, etc.: Cup: $9,874,821, Xfinity: $1,383,384, Truck: $782,014.”

Additionally, Charlotte’s official X account also released an interesting update. The Coke 600 has sold out all tickets for seats, standing room, and camping spaces for the third year in a row. Ticket prices vary, with an average figure of $70. Between 2001 and 2018, Charlotte Motor Speedway reduced capacity from 171,000 seats to the current 79,000. Standing room and infield areas can accommodate an additional 16,000 people. Fans are enthusiastic nonetheless.

Besides a variety of formats and a Netflix show driving audiences, another specialty is hiking the Coke 600’s popularity. The race will commemorate Memorial Day weekend through the annual NASCAR Salutes Together with Coca-Cola 600 program.

“NASCAR has always displayed a deep-seated appreciation for our nation’s service members throughout its 76-year history, and we’re proud to continue partnering with Coca-Cola and our entire industry to express our gratitude for the incredible sacrifices those individuals and their families make on behalf of all Americans,” said Pete Jung, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at NASCAR.

Trackhouse Racing’s star driver is also enthusiastic about honoring a fallen hero in his car.

Anchoring the race weekend is the powerful 600 Miles of Remembrance tribute. As part of this, every Cup car will feature the name of a fallen service member on the windshield. Jockey and Folds of Honor teamed up with Trackhouse Racing’s No. 1 Chevrolet to unveil a unique paint scheme recently. Ross Chastain’s car will don the red, white, and blue of the American flag and honor United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant Aaron Torian, who passed away in service.

Ross Chastain hailed NASCAR’s noble effort while saluting the late Torian. “What this is going to do for their family and for so many families that lost somebody is absolutely incredible. Hopefully, it does exactly what live sports is so great at. It gives everybody else a chance to take a break from the real world to just kick back and enjoy the race and think about the good times. Remember all the great times and remember Aaron for what his sacrifice means to this world.”
