For NASCAR fans, this is possibly the worst time of the year. The season is finished, there are no weekends to look forward to, and no racing to relish. With the Cup Series due to start in February next year, the action is far away. But fans can take comfort in knowing that there’s going to be a first-time NASCAR involvement in the Rose Parade in 2023.

The Rose Parade is not a racing event; it is an NCAA Football event. But NASCAR will for the first time be involved in the parade as it approaches its 75th anniversary. 2023 will be the 75th season running for the Cup Series, having first started in 1949 as the “Strictly Stock Division”.
For those unaware, the Rose Parade or the Tournament of Roses is a yearly parade where celebrations and elaborate floats go across Pasadena’s Colorado Boulevard. The festival precedes the Rose Bowl Game, the winner of which gets the Leishman Trophy. It is one of the biggest games in college football.
For its float entry to the parade, NASCAR has chosen to feature the LA Memorial Coliseum. The 25 feet tall and 55 feet-long float will have the Olympic Cauldron on it, with cars (of legendary fame) racing, and checkered flags waving. In accordance with the traditions of the Rose Parade, the float will be made with a mixture of seeds, lentils, rice, and green tea leaves.
The design released by NASCAR features 3 cars, but the selection of those cars has not been taken well by many fans on social media.
A 75th anniversary is an important milestone for NASCAR, and celebrations are expected. It goes to show how far the sport has reached.
NASCAR shows its bias with the selection of cars for the float
Approaching a crucial point in time for the sport, the announcement of the entry of the float should’ve been good news for fans, but it looks like not too many were happy with what NASCAR did.

Choosing to only display Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and Jeff Gordon has been understood as a biased decision against 7-time Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson.
Where is Jimmie….7 time champ

For those asking, Jimmie won his titles during a time period when nobody watched NASCAR (hence the start of the chase). Non racing fans remember Gordon, Earnhardt, and Petty.

JJ is like why we got Gordon when I’m the other 7-time

How are they going to use 4-times car & not use 7-times car? NASCAR favors JG over JJ so blatantly. https://t.co/iS6uINQzn8

People mentioning no JJ but like arguably Gordon is more recognizable despite less championships https://t.co/PRKrR4zbZl

Some would say that Jimmie Johnson isn’t as renowned as the 3 other drivers, which might be a fair evaluation. But it doesn’t justify or call for his exclusion. Legends like him deserve respect.
