Despite having a stellar 2023 season compared to a grim last season, NASCAR’s “bad boy” and 2-time Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch, is yet again caught in the headlights after a series of slumps. With the NASCAR nation headed straight for Daytona for an exciting race, Tony Stewart’s former driver addresses the elephant in the room.
Unlike a poor season with Joe Gibbs Racing last year, 2023 started out strong for Kyle Busch, who joined the Chevy camp at Richard Childress Racing. While he could only manage a single win last year, Rowdy Busch racked up three impressive wins, including an exhilarating speedway win at Talladega.
However, as we near the grand finale for another superspeedway race at Daytona, it looks like the #8 Chevy has lost its steam. And that’s what the former NASCAR commentator has in mind. Speaking on NASCAR’s Race Hub, the veteran came out blunt, mentioning the RCR driver’s sudden fall from grace while citing how his former rival Brad Keselowski snatched his winning charm.

Kyle Busch is stuck; recent slumps tarnish his championship hopes for many
The No. 8 Chevy needs no further introduction in NASCAR nation. There is a popular saying in the community that A confident Kyle Busch is a dangerous Kyle Busch. Take his Indy run; despite having a decent 2023 season, bad luck has yet again run his #8 RCR Chevy down, with the driver going out in the first stage of the race.
On the other hand, ardent KB fans who witnessed the driver’s resurgence were quickly let down as we neared Daytona for the regular season’s closing finale. And talking about Busch’s fans, his SRX rival and former NASCAR driver, Clint Bowyer, recently got candid about the driver’s sudden fall from grace.
Clint said, “I’m really concerned, Josh. Yes, I’m an RCR fan and Kyle Busch fan. How we got this #8 team, we talked about William Byron, how he started the year, what we saw when we started this season, you saw it with Kyle Busch right off the bat with the Clash.”
He then went on to speak his mind, mentioning how the RCR Chevy’s lack of momentum was evident with his rival, Brad Keselowski’s resurgence. “All of a sudden you get halfway through the summer, I talked about that faucet, we’re out of water, something’s going on big time, we’ve got to figure it out.”

“Whatever it was that they had, I’m pretty sure RFK & Keselowski they’ve found whatever it was, right? So we’ve got to find it back and get this 8 ball rolling,” said Bowyer as he highlighted RFK Racing’s glorious back-to-back wins.

Though the #3 driver never got into the playoffs last year, he signed off in stellar fashion after acing NASCAR’s crown jewel race. The 2-time Daytona winner gearing up for his superspeedway run is eyeing a shot as the action heads to the 2.5-mile track this Sunday for an epic regular-season finale.
According to Fox, Austin Dillon shared his take on his season so far, saying, “I’d say our season has just been up and down and frustrating at times. Obviously, we headed in the right direction at the beginning of the year, got the big points penalty, and haven’t been able to fight our way out of it. We had some DNFs this year that we usually don’t have on the 3 team, wrecking out at some places that we were running well at.”

“It’s been a tough year. We found some rhythm here as of late and just trying to progress on that,” said Dillon as he summed up his bleak 2023 campaign.
When asked about repeating last year’s success this Sunday, the #3 driver realistically chimed in. “It’s hard to win in this sport, no matter what. But I have faith in that we can get it done,” said Dillon.
