The NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Sprint Cup Series are similar in many ways, yet different. With technical differences like the sizes of the wheelbase and weight of the cars, each series provide a unique experience to the race car drivers. And explaining how exactly the two are perceived by NASCAR drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr shared his theory on why it’s different to drive in Xfinity as compared to the Cup Series.

In the recent episode of Dale Jr Download, Earnhardt Jr discussed his racing experiences with his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller and nephew Jeffrey Earnhardt. Furthermore, the JR Motorsports owner also talked about the differences between top-dollar teams and smaller operations that are still struggling to find their ground in NASCAR.

While talking about why everyone driving in the Xfinity Series is living in the moment instead of following a plan, Earnhardt Jr said,

“Everybody in the Xfinity series, even us, lives one year at a time. You don’t know what…we have no idea what next year looks like today until it gets here. Which is interesting. Whereas you have more stability or a little longer runway in the Cup Series, it’s supposed to be what you think you’re gonna be doing.”

Well, Junior isn’t wrong there. Drivers racing in the Xfinity Series usually aim at getting a spot in the Cup. And this is primarily because according to many, Xfinity Series is considered to be a minor league that acts as a “feeder” of talent for the Cup Series.

Dale Earnhardt Jr reveals his views on this “big damn deal” in NASCAR

In a recent Dale Jr Download episode featuring Sterling Marlin, Junior discussed the potential news of Kyle Larson attempting the prestigious Indianapolis 500 in 2024. Referring to it as a “very, very anticipated event,” he applauded Larson’s decision and said that he was young, in his prime, and can win “anything and everything he drives.”
