The prospect of racing in NASCAR has always been lucrative. Over the years, drivers from the same family have opted for a career in the sport and made it large. Without a doubt, the Earnhardts, Pettys, Alissons, and many other great family names make it to the list. Recently, when a NASCAR insider’s family was brought into this discussion, things took an interesting turn.
It is no secret how the Cup Series has been associated with some legendary racers. Many of these drivers have come from a familiar family in the sport and that is how the trend has been in NASCAR. The Busch family provides a great example of it with Brexton Busch following the path of his father, Kyle Busch and uncle Kurt Busch. Having said that, not many families come close to the legendary dynasties in the sport.

It is not just the drivers that make NASCAR great. Every member on and off the track has made the sport an entertaining watch. One such character is Dr. Jerry Punch, who was not just a pit reporter but played a key role on the track with his medical expertise.
In fact, he is famously known to have saved the lives of three drivers. In the Busch 500 at Bristol in 1988, Punch saved the life of Rusty Wallace after a five-flip crash in practice. He is also credited with saving the life of ARCA racer Don Marmor in 1988 and Cup racer Bill Dennis in 1982.
While Punch enjoyed his broadcasting duties, his daughter Jessie echoes the same passion for the sport.
Recently, she made a presence on the Rubbin Is Racing show. Host Large Barstool introduced the Punch family in an impressive fashion.
He said, “So NASCAR is filled with I don’t know what you call Family dynasties. Like right away the Petty family jumps to mind, obviously, the Earnhardts, if you think about the Allisons. There’s just so many of them and I think we’re going to add one more to that list and it’s the Punch family.”

While that was flattering, Jessie Punch wasted no time in downplaying it. She said, “I would be a terrible Nascar fan if I didn’t pull the Punch family name out of your list of Petty’s, Allison’s. That was the kindest introduction and the foundation that my Dad laid it for is something I’m so proud of. But both of us would say, oh boy by no means are we deserving to be in that list of names so thank you.”
Jessie is more frequently seen covering the ARCA regional series and has gathered quite the experience under her belt. In fact, she had some strong ideas after being inspired by the Chicago race.

Courtesy of her father’s passionate approach toward NASCAR, Jessie Punch grew in and around the sport. After featuring regularly on the tracks, she now has some interesting ideas when it comes to helping NASCAR experiment like how they did in Chicago recently.
In the Rubbin is Racing show, Punch was asked about new places where she would like to see the races take place. To this, she said, “I still think there’s a lot of markets that NASCAR could break into internationally. I know maybe looking at some markets maybe over in Chinese or maybe interested in stock car racing but here in America I think I’d love to see a race around Soldier Field.”

Additionally, Punch also insisted on reviving some of the short tracks in the sport. While these are some valuable inputs, it is interesting to see how NASCAR will go about its ventures in the future.
